Arai RX-7

  1. Had an arai giga years ago and it was awful, no airflow, shitty fittings and dodgy paintwork. Bought a Simpson bandit at the time...(25 years ago mind you) and trusted Simpson ever since....head has been in quite a few Simpsons in various accidents/occurrences so I trust'em.....going back to the us this year for hols, so will get another but I've seen a nice bell helmet so I may defect yet....

  2. Just changed from rx7 to shoei spirit 2. So much lighter, better ventilation, better vIsor mechanism , better peripheral vision! Down side prefer the aria chin deflector. I've had 3 arias in a row but so far prefer the shoei . I went to shoei to get a quieter helmet but if anything it's as noisy or noisier when vents are open.

  3. It's personal, my opinion having owned various including Quantum, RX7GP (2) Shoei (2) is that the Shoei has the best visor mechanism after that comfort, view and longevity the top of the range Arai is best.

I have bought from Infinity, HG and helmet City at West Bay, never on line. Next helmet will likely be another RX7GP but when the time comes I will try on loads of different lids before paying.

Even £800 is cheap when it comes to getting the best helmet to save your life.

  4. Just bought a new Arai Chaser V to replace my RX7, had Arais since 1990 nearly bought a shoei but stuck with what I know. I refuse to buy another RX7 at £800 my last one bought 5 years ago plain silver cost me £450 no way was I paying nearly double

  5. I'll be interested in your thoughts on how it stacks up against the RX-7 as regards noise, airflow and comfort.

  6. If we cared about noise and comfort we'd be riding pan europeans. The RX7 looks smart. Thats all the criteria I need. :)

I like the shoei's but they dont fit me that well.

  7. I always used to be a 58' medium in all my previous arais in my rx7 needed a 60' L , the chaser I am back to a 58 medium, first impressions are that its an arai :). You know what I mean though. Comfortable, doesn't feel quite as light but that is me rather than the reality. Vent wise it is supposed to be better we will see, noise I always wear ear plugs, but my rx7 was v noisy as a pure race lid. The shell appears to be smaller. Will give you a proper update post the weekend.

  8. v lost a bit of weight due to being unwell and m finding my rx7gp a little loose, soooooo can you replace some of the inners to change the fit ?

  9. Yes you can get different cheak pads for sure. The whole liner is removable so it should be easy enough to change the fit.

  10. Both the x spirit 2 and the rx7's can be fully re-built in terms of padding
