  2. I've just spent the last three hours trying to rescue data on my BT email account. Some cnut has hacked it and I've lost loads of emails and all my contacts. What is the fucking point? Twats!

  3. Do you have it all backed up?

  4. I have my work laptop backed up but not my home PC. And I just use Bt.'s webrowser email application. But at a quick glance all my emails between 24th January and 11th April have disappeared and everything since. And god knows what else has gone??

I can recreate my contacts list from my works outlook account I think.

I just don't understand the point of it all.

  5. Contacts lists are valuable. You can use them to send phishing emails and malware to people for nefarious purposes. Data is the new gold.
Get a back up hard drive for your home computer. They don't cost much and you'll be happy next time it happens.
Use an email client on your computer instead of webmail (much more ergonomic).
    Get a Mac.

  6. Flasher mac:upyeah:

  7. I hope that you have already changed your bt password , pronto. And should you use same/similar in other popular applications -amazon etc-change them also.......

And as Glid said-sound comments made.

Back ups are wonderful in hindsight. But it's surprising how many people seem not to, until they find themselves in your situation ET. I have three in rotation, one always stored off premises.

Good luck with the recovery-there's nothing on tv today anyway.....

  8. I've also spoken to "Nigel" in Bangalore on BT's help line and they have double checked the privacy settings an' ting, and deleted a suspect email that had found it's way on to my account. I've now changed my passwords (again), and run anti virus and malaware programmes. BT are trying to recreate my account from yesterday (only received emails apparently, and contacts) and I now can't open it up for 12 hours.

  9. Mrs Shadow did this yesterday

  14. Thunder and lightning in Surrey. It's proving quite a dramatic soundtrack while I'm working in the shed on bike electrics...

  15. I really wanted to drop the engine out of the vw today now I've got it running correctly. To get to the fuel tank. To fix the fuel outlet pipe which broke and replace that bastard fuel gauge transducer. Be nice to know how much gas fuel I've got left. But its raining.

No doubt removing engine will break something else. I sometimes feel like I am chasing after broken things lol.

Still its an easy engine and good fun. Cant do serious oily things on my dukes as they are both perfect.

  16. Third day of riding out over the bank holiday. went out to Royston and local area with Brother , him on his Honda vfr400rr, me on the duc. Bit wet on the way home, but dry in the morning.

  18. Looks a bit more appetising than the chicken pie I'm about to eat this evening

  19. Spent the day indoors and am bouncing off the walls. Things like prepping a grazing agreement for a local farmer to use some of my land and watching bad Bond movies. Living the dream and the bike has still only been out once since Sept 2013. Poor rant and apologies for negativity.
