I want to remove the standard "integral" brake reservoir from my 749R and fit a remote Brembo reservoir. It appears fairly simple but looking inside the standard reservoir there is a bolt holding it to the master cylinder. Once this is removed - does the nasty triangular reservoir come off? Looking at my M1100S which has similar master cylinder (but with remote reservoir as standard), there is a bleed nipple in the area where the 749 reservoir seems to attach with above mentioned bolt. Does the 749 m/cyl have a bleed nipple on it? Any help from somebody who has already done this conversion would be much appreciated. Thanks, R
I just replaced the whole master cylinder for a delicious IRC one from Italy and a remote reservoir....I'll take pics tomorrow so you can see where I mounted the reservoir.....
I looked at doing a similar mod, and it was a little more involved than it looked. Cant remember what caused the stumbling block, I think it was the angled fitting that went into the m/c cylinder. Can buy all the other parts, but, the angled fitting is part of the m/c cylinder .... And don't think you can buy any fittings etc tHat are classed as part of the m/c cylinder. Be good to know if you sort it.
Ive read about after-market reservoirs before (on the ducati.ms site I think) and I could be interested in this if anyone has done it and without it costing a squillion quid. Surely reservoirs from another bike fit but im curious about the fitment to the master cylinder. Obviously im looking for that "R" look without having to have new masters. JC
Ducati sells remote reservoir kits for 749x masters. Call Moto Rapido. I needed a new seal to repair my integral reservoir and it was the same as the one in remote units.
You can get all the parts you need from a Brembo dealer. JHP or Bike Torque Racing. Done quite a few for customers converting 749/999 to 748/996 fitment. Costs a few quid
I know where to buy the reservoir and tubing and have fabricated an ally bracket for the Brembo RCS on my 916SPS so not after a kit per se. Just need to know if it's a simple case of removing the integral reservoir and plugging in a bit of tubing between the new remote reservoir and existing m/cyl. In other words, is there a little "elbow" fitting on the existing m/cyl that will interface with my new piece of tubing? Then it's a simple case of fettling a bracket to mount the reservoir. I think a reservoir is under a tenner and a length of tube is pennies. Can anybody confirm if this is the case? Cheers, R
Top man - I knew I had seen it and that I wasnt going mad. Now where to get the parts....k'in Brembos!
Top man. I am tempted by this as im sure my o rings weep a little bit. Could just be fluid from the rubbish baffles as I found a tiny bit on the fairing the other day - like a fine mist. DOH! I soon noticed the baffle wasnt correctly fitted... my fault but they are still pants. My bike is in for a service so will wait and see how many of my imaginary pounds it wants to spend first.
Cheers mate. Ordered all the bits n' bobs for brake and clutch today. One day....maybe....it will be as nice as yours....... Maybe not - mine looks like somebody took a belt sander to the LH fairings following a recent "event" at Brands!! R
Bit late now but I've done the same a few times and used these guys for the parts. You just need the 90deg inlet adapter to do the mod, then obviously the tubing, hose clips and a reservoir to fit. Brembo Master Cylinder Spares @ moto-racing.co.uk
Thankyou very much Will have a play when finance/ time etc allow. If anyone else does the mod please post it up.
