I have the same problem with the CBR engine, its resisting all efforts to give its filth up. I've had some significant success this weekend with oven cleaner, in a couple of weeks (away next week) I'm going to attack it with more oven cleaner, and if that fails caustic soda (apparently it works very well, but needs to be used very carefully, and the engine rinsed in vinegar afterwards)
Phil I think you will find that oven cleaner is caustic soda. Well that's what the oven cleaning product I bought was!
Got out on the bike! Yeeeeah! only for 40 miles because the forecast said rain from 12 so committed to wife things for pm, but still, I got out on the bike!
We finished puttIng a polyTunnel up so no ride for us today. Just made a pork pie with pork belly, eggs and black pudding in it.
Well, I appear to have made an electrical faux pas, cos the Guzzi is blowing fuses every time I try to start it now. Ah well, back out with the wiring diagram
Bit of shopping with the missus, gym for an hour now for an evening of soaps on TV. Life doesn't get better
Funnily enough the little lad was a bit spooked when I fired her up. My granddaughter loved the noise

I've agreed a deal on either a new 899 or a Diavel. Just need to get my head straight as to what I actually want
decisions decisions. still here fighting with a golf radiator another hour should see i done. in early the morra getting multy mot'd turns out i have been riding around without one for last few weeks. doh!.
