1098 Who went from an 848 to a 1098 ?

  1. Thanks for all the repies. I am going to sit the 899 itch out for the moment. After Cartagena, im pretty smitten with the 848.

    SO...

This is where I am at.

Ive done some reasearch, read the most informed and credible posts above.

I am now of the conclusion that without the "lock me up officer" character of the 1098s, I am going to go for an 848 evo o_O

Im waiting on the guy who's interested in the 848 to get abck to me.

A little more power, a little more braking, it'll do me for a bit.

After only buyikng a new 1200 tenere I cant just go and get the evo. I must shift the 848 first.

    Will keep you posted.

    ;)

  2. Actually..................so do I. Wonder when one will be released?

  3. It wont. But you can always build your own...Snell will help ;)

  4. Why don't you think one will be built?

  5. I wouldn't go from an 848 to and 848 evo. No point IMHO.
Do your sums. Maybe just buy some M4s, Then consider shock and forks.
848 to SE if you want to stay 848?

  6. What Nelson said, either go to the SE or upgrade your current evo, 1x98 ohlins forks and shock revalved, upgraded brakes job done :)

  7. tks for the replies.....to be honest, Im getting a really good deal on the EVO. Its almost too good to turn down, seriously.

And the money im getting on my 848 priv sale is whats swinging it.

I wouldnt pay the money for the SE at this moment, the evo is more a bargain as such.

  8. I would have bought a 848 evo or corse if the deals were decent at the end of last year, but dealers were (are?) still wanting money not far off an 899, so I went with a used 1098.

    No regrets so far :D

  9. I've ridden both 1098 and 1198s and was looking to buy a used 1198 when I had a test ride on an 848 Evo Corse. I found the 848 much better on the road that either of the bigger bikes particularly in town or traffic.

That was in 2012 and I bought a new red, white and black model and have to say I absolutely love it. Eventually got my termi's fitted even managed to wear out my front tyre in under 3000 miles. Yes you loose out to thousands on the straights, but no contest most times through the corners.

  10. OK...update!

I have a chance at a 1098s, one onwe,er mint only 4k kms, never seen rain..

    OR

    I can have another 749s ( grey swinger ) for a track bike....decisions.....

  11. Track bike all the way.

  12. You seem to be arguing with yourself about this decision mate. If you're like me you aren't going to be satisfied unless you make the bike change?
If the deal's that good for the 1098 and you're getting a good price on the 848 then do it!
If, after owning the 1098 for a while you begin to miss the 848 then you can trade in for the corse/evo etc. By the sound of it you won't lose much financially?
    Get that itch scratched dude!

  13. If you do t take the 1098 you will always say 'what if'

Did the same with my gixer track bike last year. Wanted one for years, ummed and arred about a 600 or a bigger twin. Bought the gixer...and nothing but trouble since lol but if I dont get on with it by the end of the season, I'll sell it and but something else

  14. Ok im back again.....

im now thinking of 848 evo or 848 corse se...

i think for my uses it'll be a nice upgrade. Couple of extra ponies, brakes.

i had a trqckday yesterday & 1098s just might be too big. Not dcwry but just been able to ride the 848 ebo s little harder.

bradders / wayne, i think i have the itch to change.

    @ET, tempting......
