Termi Cans Colour?

  1. Hi guys was looking at my termi cans in the sun and they are starting to kinda look like a greenish colour now any ideas how to bring the black back in the carbon?

  2. Heat damage. Time for a repack.

  3. How do I go about doing that?

  4. Cans need to be disassembled and re packed.

Rivets drilled out and the cans separate allowing them to be re packed.

  5. What do I use to re pack with? Where do I get the rivets from?

  6. Stainless steel rivets - eBay

    For the packing Google Acousta-fil

  7. Ok will have a butchers cheers guys. Gotta Change my tail tidy do might as well do it at same time? Any ideas how I would get the colour back to black?

  8. Possibly by re-lacquering them, but the colour is in the weave of the carbon.

Try this.... test it first somewhere out of sight (top of the can & inlet end).. I use this on my black ceramic coated bits & it brings them up nice & adds a bit of black pigmentation... Obviously not tried it on carbon so please please spot test it first... & as ChrisW says get em repacked asap..

  10. The discoloring is in the epoxy resin between the carbon strands.

With a bit of sanding and re-laquering you might get the green/yellowish look off, but it all depends how deep the discolouring is.

  11. What grit would you use to sand?

  12. I'd use the highest grit available. I'd even try polish first. If the resin is anything like on my Termi's, there's is hardly any over the weave. With a to low grit (course sandpaper) you'd go through the laquer straight to the weave...
Try to get a feel for the amount of laquer there is on the dampers, then work out what to use.

  13. Ok will try a polish first then go from their.

  14. Just remember that if the dampers don't feel smooth (i.e. you can feel the weave), there is next to no laquer on top and there is nothing to polish or sand off.
    Good luck!

  15. Ok mate will see how it goes

  16. May be worth noting here that you can get heat resistant lacquer... Would I use that with polish underneath? Probably not but thought I'd mention it.. Maybe a very light misting of BBQ spray paint & then the lacquer would do it??.... Not sure how carbon reacts to paint so I hold no responsibility for the outcome here (unless it works hehe).... One thing for sure though I'd repack em first else you'll be in the same boat all over.

  17. Yer gonna re pack as soon as my tail tidy arrives as might as well do it all together
