  2. Howdo!

Gotta set of headers, if your down this way you can have a look?

    Cheers Pablo

  3. You have a pm pablo, i'm down the depths of the SW on tuesday pm/wednesday most of the day.

  4. Hey Steve, re your ST/888 project...how much alike are the ST and 851/888 frames...if at all?

  5. Not really similar in any way tbh George.
I'd say a monster (early) frame is more similar apart from the rear frame.

  6. Frame is now painted a nice shade of White.
Also i just broke myself and bought a very nice engine

  8. Cheers Steve, I am actually thinking of either buying an early 851 but dont like the idea of chopping it up for a project. There was one on eBay Germany a couple of weeks ago which had been turned into a truly horrendous Streetfighter style bike which would have been ideal as a project base....or buy a frame and engine seperately. I actually want a 748 engine for my project, and ideally a proper 851 frame with the welded tubes at the front as opposed to a later 888 frame with the bent tubes... these frames are hard to come by!

  9. George, Have a look on the 851/888 forum, A very good site full of 851/888 info and lots of stuff comes up for sale.

As i found everything with 851 or 888 always attracts at stupid price like £300 for a battered tank. £600 for a 888 frame (with no doc's)
and some parts you can't get anymore.

  10. Dave, I'll let the member on here spill the beans, I have not yet picked it up but it's mint.
I have struggled to find a good one or they have been stripped or look dodgy!

  11. Aawww Man! OK then, I love these build/rebuild threads, keep 'em comin' :upyeah:

  12. I'll put you out of your misery Dave, it's my 900 engine out of my SS/IE.

I've decided to strip the bike, put the wheels and forks onto the carby SS, the swing arm on the SL and sell everything else as I've too many other jobs on ! :upyeah:

  13. Howdo!!

Nice looking bike Gillan :upyeah: Wouldn't be selling that 1000DS swingarm by any chance??? Nudge nudge! Got some cracking marbles n conkers!! If you do ever wanna get rid

    Pablo

  14. In a word Pablo, NO !

That was the main reason I bought this bike, well one of the reasons. I tried to love it and re-build her and she started to grow on me, but I wheeled her out of the garage the other week after getting a rather nice carbon race nose cone for her and I just felt nothing ! no excitement, no enthusiasm and no love :frown: So time to do what I was originally planning to do, Strip her ! I suppose I was also swayed by the fact Steve's building this new project bike and he might be in the market for a few bits. I'll be putting a list of items up in the classifieds as soon as he's decided what other pieces he want's, but no chunky swing arms matey :upyeah:

  15. Aahhh I see, very tidy bike to be stripping , but I suppose if it ain't doin' it for ya, needs must and all that :upyeah:

  16. It's pretty until you start to put the fairing on  then it's all down hill...

  17. Why are certain swing arms sought after more than others?

  18. IMG_3706.jpg
The final 900SSie and 1000SSds and early 800SS had a stronger sexier swingarm(and ohlins shock) fitted. They don't come up for sale very often and fetch about £200 when they do. I bought a written off 1000ds to get 1 for my bike.

  19. No Ohlins on the 800SS, Sachs. :frown:

  20. Hey there Nog! I fancy those... Spent a trackday last year dragging my headers on the floor, yours would certainly look good on my bike. PM me letting me know how much you want for them, A pic would be nice if you have it! Cheers!
