Does your suspension......

  1. this only applies to the S models.....

Does your suspension feel different in the different modes? I'm not sure mine is changing (although the power delivery seems to). I can hear motors going when changing rider/luggage/rider+luggage etc. but not when changing between the 4 different power modes.

scwirral suggested I try changing modes with the engine off but I can't hear any motors then either.

  3. Mine definately works, but you have ride quite hard to really appreciate the different settings. If you take the panel off the left side you can see the rear shock preload moving when you change modes.

  4. I can really feel it on mine, in Sports mode the bike is much firmer and feels lighter. In Urban it is very soft and road feedback is much less.

Dont be afraid to alter the factory default settings, its easy to do and makes a big difference I will post up my sports settings later.

  5. Having had mine set up by P&H the difference is huge between the City and Sport/Touring. The setting I have used for Sport is only slightly firmer than Touring so this difference is not as noticeable, although you can tell the difference at higher speeds.

  6. So post them on here with rider weigt and height as well

  7. I did a track day a while ago and put the mode selection to sport for 2 people with luggage, it coped admirably. Is it possible to make it firmer than that with some manual intervention?

  8. I understand that the difference in ride feel is very obvious for pillions, Jim. Get Mrs Mac on the back and let her decide!

  9. Thanks for all the replies and especially to Multi rider for the fantastic video. My bike's not doing anything :-( Back we go.

  10. Worth looking for a blown fuse before you do a ride and wait at the dealers?
Or maybe you can arrange to leave the bike and take a loaner away with you.... It would at least encourage them to get it fixed promptly...

  11. Maybe I'm being a bit of a noob.....

I've set the load to rider plus luggage. With this, I don't get any change in suspension when I change riding modes. Is that normal?

When I set it back to rider only, I do get changes to the suspension when I change riding mode.

So, does/should the suspension change with modes only if the load hasn't been changed?

  12. It depends on what your rear preload settings are in each mode. Remember, there are essentially 16 "options" that can be set as presets.... Sport Solo, Sport Solo plus luggage, etc, etc, etc.... And for each, you can set the preload (and other things). If your settings ar standard, it is likely (I can't remember for sure) that preload for ALL preset rider plus luggage settings are preload = 16 ... I.e. maximum. The Rider only settings have lower rear preload settings, hence you notice the change..

The way to test it, is to set one option, say Enduro solo, to rear preload = 1, and another, say Enduro Rider, pillion, plus luggage, to rear preload = 16. Then you will see the movement clearly.... Hope that helps....

  13. Thanks, I'll give that a go.

  14. Glad you posted this :upyeah: i thought i was going mad, mine is the same. I'am now going to get mine checked out. Sounds like an electrical fault?

  15. I'd be very interested to know what your outcome was.

  16. I will post as soon as i know anything.

  17. Correct. Preload in Urban is 1 and Enduro is 16 for solo rider without luggage in standard settings. The Sport and Touring settings are both 6, so no movement there.

  18. Thanks David and johnv. I can confirm that I've been a noob. I've just tested at different pre-load settings in different modes and can hear the motor whirring nicely. Am I correct in thinking that the pre-load adjustment is the only one you can hear, or should compression and rebound changes be heard too?

Dunc, you might want to try getting away from the default settings too, to test your bike.

  19. Correct. You only hear the rear preload adjusting. The front and rear compression/rebound changes by magic! ;-)

Oh, and don't worry about being a 'noob', or asking 'silly' questions...that's what the forum is for, and often the 'silly' question, or rated the answer, is something lots of people want to know, but just don't ask!
