  1. Well I'm a new dad but little Darcey will be riding pillion in the top box with ear plugs (that's a joke dear)

Regards to the down pipe, that sounds like a job for 'super hammer' (said in a deep hero esq voice)

I couldn't cut off a 6mm toe nail straight so I'll be buggered if ill attempt an exhaust :)

  2. It's easy. just wrap tape around the pipe 6mm back, make sure the tape looks parallel to the end and is 6 mm away from it then gently cut around it with a hacking saw, smooth off with a file and bobs your uncle but 6 mm shorter.
if your lucky you wont need to trim any off. I think I have a Friday afternoon bike nothing seems to line up on it.

  3. The MIVV can looks nice............always amazes me though that, for the sake of the tiny cost, exhaust manufacturers don't use black anodised rivets on carbon and black finished parts???

  4. but i like them silver ;)

and when i dont, they be replaced with black :)

  5. Quick update:

Well, its been a week and so far Ive not managed to sort out much being honest.

Seats have been taken in to be re-upholstered and materials chosen (thanks Big Stu), Belly pan and guards dropped off with Powder coater, sending my mate over to the painter during this coming week to collect the handlebars and other bits we can strip while he needs the bike.

Subframe will have to wait until i get the bike back. Already have the exhaust as already seen in the thread and also the new Spider grips to replace the stock Ducati heated ones.

Next on the list will be tyres, new chain, wheel rim stripes and anodised rear wheel nut.

Still trying to collect info on the exact amount of stainless bolts in the various sizes ill need. Although that could be done in the 'one in one out' routine when i get the bike back one evening i guess, I just cant stand furry bolts and whilst Titanium would be good i think stainless all round would be better as it'll all be the same then.

Few mock up images below of what I'm aiming for, you'll have to excuse some poor photoshop work on certain areas (front mudguard) but I'm a novice and completely self taught. Also on the right hand side shot I cant mock the Mivv up as I'm not that good , I did try and it looked about 20ft long :)

Like the look though, Im still toying with the idea of different mirrors. Really like the fold out Hypermotard idea i saw on the US site but the cost vs how long it'll be until they annoy me might not be worth it, I'm quite partial to CRG Arrows so will see how i feel after more time mulling it over.

  7. Why thank you kind sir :)

  8. Well, tonight I've most been weeding out decals....and loads of them :)

Always best to supply back ups, I've cocked a few up so I'm pretty sure he will as well, they're just so small and hard work.

now just need to decide what layout I'm going for (red and black mix).... Honestly it takes the patience of a saint to do fiddly little text like these

    Shouldn't be long now

  9. Damo, why decals and not paint ?

My paint man did them with paint, using a stencil.

  10. Yep like that

  11. Dunno, guess its because I offered and stock on both pikes peak and S touring is a decal so I figured why not.

Besides, what if he couldn't spell? I could end up with 'Multystrodo parks peek' or something equally as ....... Hang on a minute...... That doesn't sound too bad :)

  12. Given its a copy job maybe thats an idea

  13. Copy job??? :Stop:

I prefer an 'update' if you please :upyeah:

Besides, all bikes from dealers are copy jobs when it comes to how they're dressed, it's merely a paint job Bradders, merely a paint job dear boy :Smug:

  14. Damo you could do him the stencils, to make sure they are right.
I assume my man used some special film, to ensure the edges don't bleed.
Just an idea ate, I'm sure it will be great which ever way you do it ;)

  15. I honestly don't see the value in it mate, as stock all the bikes are decals when it comes to logos, it's not exactly a cheap vinyl I'm using, frankly per sqm it's probably over 100 times or more expensive than paint as its 3m specific cast vinyl so about the best you can buy.

For the pin striping and rest of the bike it's paint all the way, but for logos it's just pointless really and I'd have to stand pointing it out for anybody to even know the difference or what they were looking at. Nah, decals it is, he has them now so that's that.

  16. If your bike turns out half as good as your photo-shop then Dam!

That will be one fine looking bike.

    Very, very nice indeed

  17. Is it done yet?

  18. I reckon towards the end of next week, still have some more bits to get yet but paint wise it should be done by weekend after next

  19. Well today I had the first issue arise.

My powder coater of choice has left which is unfortunate as I've dealt with him before. When I asked why he'd gone I wasn't filled with confidence that the company wasn't on Shakey ground tbh.

Last thing I want to do is leave my bars, passenger pegs, belly pan and rock guard with them for the next time I pop by the doors are shut and I lose my stuff.

I've taken everything back with me so now need to find somebody else which at this stage is a pain.

  20. Where are you based,i use a great company in the midlands for powder coating, owner even has a multi.
