So what have you done today..?

  1. Today my Alfa got new tyres and then went for its MOT which it passed with flying colours. It's been very pampered over the last few days: a 200'000 km service with new front springs. It's been washed, hoovered, a fantastic synthetic cherry spray has been applied to the interior plastic parts (more for the smell than anything else if I'm honest), and its leather upholstery has been rubbed with leather milk.

In Switzerland, your car must be super clean before it is allowed near the cantonal MOT testers. That means a steam clean of the engine and chassis. When the thing was on their lift, its underside looked like new. Not bad for a 14 year old car with 125'000 miles on the clock. It's been raining all day, but the Alfa blue pearlescent paint looks particularly cool in this sort of light.

I am completely in love with my car all over again.

  8. Sat at home, why do companies never keep the parts you need in stock, now sat with no work because I am waiting for a part for a planer thickneser coming from Germany, I am told possibly the end of next week!!!
been waiting since the 17th and have run out of other jobs to do so now starts a very long weekend.
They even took my money for the parts straight away. The joys of being self employed.

  9. I finally managed to get a decent quote on the R1. £462 with excess protection.

  10. Today has been a something and nothing day in the office. I've spent more time writing to cousins, aunts and uncles around the world telling them about my dad. :(

Tonight I'm heading north to visit him, and I've already been alerted to the fact that I have to sign a "DNR" form tonight. :(

Apart from my new bike things are a bit shit tbh
