Has anyone tried any boots that seem a bit of a mix of sports boots/adventure boots? In particular i was thinking these new TCX Track Evos which have had good reviews in magazines. TCX Track Evo WP boots : Adventure Motorcycle Travel
I've had TCX boots in the past, BUT I'd only buy Gortex versions and I had the Race boot style rather than adventure type. Good boots, oddly the toes and soles wore out first and then they would leak. I made the switch to Daytona after buying 2 pairs of TCX (during the same period my chum was still on the same pair of Daytona's!) Very dull, but they feel so solid compared to others, bought mine at the Bike show. Daytona: boots Road Star GTX 40597-main buy cheap at moto24 - only £274.32
Sidi Adventure Gore-Tex Boots - Black - FREE UK DELIVERY I've got a set of these. Really nice good quality boots. Only complaint I have is due to them being an adventure style boot there isn't a lot of feel when changing gear and on the multi have to twist you foot in to get to the gear lever
Strangely one of the reason for looking at something else is that my TCX raceboots are wearing at the toe. I do agree about Goretex being best and will probably ending up buying either the Alpinestars Supertech's or SMX Plus as they have toe protection.
They do an Adventure style book, but they are expensive... Daytona Trans Open GTX motorcycle boot black
I have the Sidi Adv. Gore boots and can say they are super waterproof and very easy to put on/off. However the Alpinestar version has a longer warranty; by another 12 months! I have size 9 feet and the toe reinforced area on the Sidi's is small so the gear selector partly misses that. Again the A/stars have a bigger toughened top toe area. I got the Sidi wellies tax free otherwise would have gone for the A/star ones
Not very adventure, but a solid boot with good grip off the bike and I've not had a pair leak yet. Roadrunner - Alt-Berg Boots
Why do the Daytona boots look so....well........shit? I mean c'mon, they've been selling £400+ boots for ages and has nobody at any point told them they look atrocious? Honestly sort it out, for £400 id want something a bit better looking than those hein gericke style things
I have a pair of these, completely water proof and I can walk around in them all day, which is good considering the state on my knee. www.youtube.com/watch?v=scjY4yDrFkg
I have to agree, Daytona boots look like they were designed in the 70's and haven't had an update since.
Yep, 70's porn star boots! HOWEVER they are bloody comfortable, waterproof, solid, last for ages, leather, you can return them for repairs and if they are under your trousers you only see the bottom part... (it took me a long time to buy in to them)
When i read the title 'cross over' boots I thought you were out the closest duke63 and after something like these.... ...or maybe for the summer
I got a pair of Bates GX-8 myself - not truly motorcycle boots but have all the features I was after, good ankle support, Goretex, supremely comfortable on and just as importantly (for me) off the bike. Great for touring if you like to get off the bike and walk about places as the soles are properly grippy unlike most motorbike boots. On and off in a few seconds with shock lace system.
I would say so but my supertech R's are without doubt the most comfortable boot I've ever worn and good enough for over half of the Motogp grid so must be pretty safe, ok looks are in the eye of the beholder but I don't think they're a bad looking boot at all. Now Daytonas in any guise (race or tour) just look old fashioned, I'd have thought for £400+ per pair they could offer both form and function, after all plenty of other brands manage it and for £400 I'd expect it.
Got to agree and the best road boots I've ever had. Couldn't give a toss what people think I look like to be honest - maybe it's an age thing? That said, I do like a bit of leather and some Alpinstars when I'm on the trackl!
