Fork foot Öhlins recall

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Piero, Feb 28, 2014.

  1. OK I've managed to speak to Micaela at Ducati [email protected]
She acknowledges the problem and that my motorcycle was affected. Further as soon as I pass information (invoice, photographs and this thread) to her she will escalate my claim through Ducati UK.

I'll hold my breath.....next time you see me I may be a little blue.

    Just got this back?

  4. FG8603. 2011.04.26. MTS S Touring first registered March 2012. Good news. Many thanks for the information, it's much appreciated.

  5. ACT, are you still alive ?

  6. My forks are fine; hoorah. Used my new double 'C' hub turner tool to do my chain today. Good bit of kit. Cheers AndyW.

  7. Yes.
Ducati Italy have called back, but I've not been in. I may try to call them again today.

  8. :eek:Well I've recently also been advised that there is a similar recall for my 10 plate MTS, for all of the reasons outlined within these emails. I'll try to find out the exact nature of the problem, but when speaking with Riders in Bristol about a check up on the bike before I head off on a trip to Belgium, they told me about the 'fork-recall', their words not mine!
So I'll follow up after the 29th, when the bike's been in and had a once-over.o_O

  9. Just checked mine and OK FG8603 :) just leaving me to sort out the dash and DTC :(

  10. I was at the dealers yesterday, My FG860 model is due to get done when the parts arrive!

  11. I still haven't heard from my dealer regarding this.

  12. My bike is due in tomorrow, so after this I'll try to give an update, assuming anything actually happen that is!:Depressed:

  13. Mine is in having work done and the dealer has told me the fork foot is one thats affected and it is cracked! New one going on.

  14. Well had the front fork assembly dealt with and it took a little over 4 hours, yes you are reading this right, 4 HOURS!!
I didn't get any feedback that the original one was cracked, just that it needed dealing with, so now done.:D

  15. Now, listen to this.

Booked mine (2010 Touring) for service today plus fork recall, dealer did last two services on the bike. I rang last week to confirm they can do the fork recall – of course no problem, sir – frame and part number compatible. Taken time off work to take the bike along, I get there this morning... eehhm we have a problem, we can’t do the fork recall, we do not have the right tools for the job. We have stopped selling Ducati bikes so we sent back the tools (?) . Sorry.

The didn’t even have the basic courtesy and professionalism to tell me on the phone (I had spoken to them twice about this) they couldn’t do the job. I am amazed that these guys are still on the Ducati UK website as a Ducati authorized service dealership. I have now booked the whole thing with another dealership, hoping to get some proper service.

If someone is planning to use West London Superbikes, please take my experience into consideration.

  16. Gazdoc, I've sent you a PM mate.....

  17. See original thread on this subject for an update.
Admin it might be worth linking these two together?

  18. I think I'll leave the two separate Paul.....your original thread works as a lead up to this one discussing Ducati actually taking action.

    Cross reference:
*** WARNING *** Read this - Potentially lethal Front Fork failure

....by the way I've heard a rumour that DNA (Ducati North America have escalated the issue to an actual Recall - still just a Technical Bulletin here as far as I'm aware i.e. no official notifications going out to owners.

  19. P&H have told me that my bike is one that is affected from the age and Vin Number, but don't they need to check the numbers before going ahead?

  20. According to the Ducati workshop instruction they do.
