My Px Has Fallen Through :/

  1. I had a message from Mark at MADASL today, as he had agreed to handle to delivery and exchange of my R6 for an R1 I had organised. (MADASL is not the company the bike is coming from, he just stores my bikes while I'm away.) The bike was supposed to be delivered on Wednesday, but was delayed due to a 'van issue' and rearranged for today. Today the delivery was cancelled due to the bike needing a panel re-spraying. Alarm bells did ring.

In fairness to the guy selling the R1, he had mentioned stone chips on the nose cone in his advert on his website. I was ok with some stone chips, I feel they are to be expected on bikes of a certain age. However, I wasn't expecting the panel to need a respray. I asked the owner to send me some photos and to his credit they aren't that bad, perhaps not needing a re-spray. However, I don't want to buy a bike that has a resprayed panel and I felt uneasy with the repeated cancellation of what should have been a simple procedure. The stone chips were present a week ago when I paid the money and did the deal and he didn't think they needed a respray at that time. Then 2 cancellations of delivery for seemingly simple reasons. What was being hidden?

All in all, maybe he is being completely genuine however I am not happy to PX my mint R6 for a resprayed R1 no matter how fast it goes.

The guy offered me a full refund, which I took and now I'm still an R6 rider.

Excellently handled by Mark at MADASL, he offered me some sound advice and didn't appear to mind the mess about.

Also, the company selling the R1 were also pretty good about things, I don't want to mention their name as they haven't really done me wrong. I just got pushed in to uneasiness by circumstance.

I don't want to end up with a duffer!

  2. always go with gut instinct.

  3. Each to their own

  4. Sound move Tom. Sounds like something might have happened between you purchasing and the bike deliver date.

  5. It's a shame, but I don't want to make the kind of mistakes I have made before. I'm just going to stick with the R6 this season. See what's going on next year.

  6. Changed your mane then?

  7. Name? Yes, rob did it for me. Naming my account with my actual real name wasn't a smart move. Now I can talk about things I usually would not.

  8. Yes same here

  9. Sounds like you may have had a bit of an escape there, and yep using your real name with your date of birth aint the smartest thing to do :).
Esp if you are looking at joining the old bill :).

  10. Tom...Plod? PMSL.

I shall now scour the forum for evidence to hold against him should the need arise.

  11. No need bootsam, I am precluded by the information they already hold. For another 6 months at least ;)

  12. So your next bike will be a white pan european with hi vis and some jack boots for you

  13. Sneaky beaky stuff, unmarked R1 with Jack boots

  14. What sort of R1 are you after pingping? (Sounds like a Panda's name!)

  15. It's the sound of a text message coming through when too close to the speaker. Ping! Ping! 01010101010101010101010101!!!

I was after a 4C8 or a Big Bang model, but after all this shenanigans I've decided to just keep the R6 this year and see about a new R1 next year.

  16. I haven't slept tonight, my body clock is all messed up. Instead I have spent the whole night looking at R1's and being disappointed that my deal fell through. I might continue the search for another.

  17. I've just realised who you are - TR right?? Doh!

  18. You mean ping ping isn't who he says he is?

  19. The problem with hanging around til next year is that yours will be worth less - all relative I know...
