Mine needs a set up. I cant get to CJS as its just too far. MR has a dyno and wondered if anyone recommends them. Never used MR before. I believe its someone called Wilf that does it. I'm at J6/M25. Plus what sort of moolah would i be looking at for a set up. I have to budget new tyres too so looking to see what money i need to gather altogether before pressing the button. I'm off to the Alps and France in June and need it setting up. Its a wee bit rich at the bottom now ive removed the EXV.
Yep, he has access to a dyno and does his own tuning, and i know few who have had theirs done. Not sure if its something they offer as a service or a 'local' thing. Give them a call
probably worth pointing out that Wilf dynos his BSB bikes. I'd go to him if he had the kit for my race bikes.
Dave Woods, if you mean Dave Woods of Dave Woods Racing, Aylesbury. I can recommend that workshop too, although he isn't Ducati specific he always saw me right.
Bootsam, Wilf is the owner of Moto Rapido, real name Steve and the same person who ran a BSB team until Millsport took over running the Panigale with Jacub Smertz. Steve still provides engine management programming so has a lot of experience. He did a lot of work for Kope999 and at least one other forum member that I know of with 1*98/99s as well as one Multistrada and mine as soon as he can fit it in. Depending on what you are looking for will dictate the amount of time it takes and hence the overall cost. I would budget £600 and advise you to leave your shagged tyres on the bike because the rolling road is quite abrasive. With minimal intervention he squeezed over 112 rwhp (subjective I know) from my stock 748Rworking withe the ECU. Best bet is to introduce yourself by e-mail and ask what is possible before deciding on how far you want to take it. Andy
Wilf has done a first class job on my R. I was sceptical at first with my setup, but he's made it just beautifully fueled low down for perfect manners on the road, but also howlingly strong throughout the rev range right to the top end. Achieving +10hp at every rev point, and a conservative 184rwhp (with tyre slip on the rollers for the final 1500rpm - because Wilf uses a standard road control tyre, not a grippy Supercorsa) with perfect fueling throughout does not happen without knowing your onions on how to extract the best you can. Every dyno reads differently, and there are many tuning dynos in the country that are set to read optimistically high as a way of appeasing the customer. MR is not setup as a dedicated dyno tuning firm and achieves no benefit to overstating the numbers. What IS important, however, is the before/after to see what improvements have been achieved.
No, not right now. I have a terrible goatee beard, I haven't had my hair cut for 3 months and I'm looking weathered and sun burned at the same time. But when I have returned to civilisation I shall probably look 12 again in short order.
Thanks SP. Ive dropped Wilf a line about getting the 1198 in for a tweak. Love your Dyno graph. Thats proper torquey. I love torque. Its the best bit about Ducati's.
