So, after a 4 week wait, I finally received the SC project decat and end can. I fitted it on Sunday but due to having to drill out one of the bolts holding the rectifier and fading light I didn't get to start her up till Monday morning. It makes a big difference at low revs. I like the look of the standard cans but needed a better soundtrack. You can't believe the difference in weight! It's definitely not a low frequency boomer. To my mind it's a cross between a Yamaha M1 and an Aprilia RSV4 and that's with the baffle in. It is miles better than stock. I also fitted a vizitec DUC.EE to bypass the exhaust valve malarkey and for £35, it's dead simple to fit and does the job without any fuss. I'd like to thank all the forum users who have posted step-by-step instructions on how to fit a decat pipe and how to remove the exhaust valve gubbins. It allows idiots like me to save £££ on having someone else do it and I have the satisfaction of having done it myself. Next up is to get the footrest hangers and bash plate powder coated. It's her 1st birthday on the 24th and I've just hit 7500 trouble free miles. On Monday, I'm getting the PR3 that's lasted for 6800 miles changed for a PR4, before taking her for her annual service at Moto Rapido. All in all, a fantastic year of riding on a simply brilliant machine that now sounds like a big bore L-twin should (kind of).
I'm pleased it all worked out for you. The SC Project is one of the systems we know little about so a picture would be good. If you have the funds you may like to talk to Wilf as he has an ECU map for the Multistrada that on a sample of one (a forum member), transforms the performance. Andy
Ducextc, can you elaborate on what you did to eliminate the exhaust valve issue, I am looking at the SC project exhaust but can't find any advice regarding the valve and also did you do anything with the map?
To me the simplest solution is to buy a DUC.EE servo eliminator (Ducati Multistrada 1200 Exhaust Servo Eliminator | eBay), which is just a tiny box of electrickery that does exactly what it says on the tin. It's a bit of a faff to fit involving lifting the rear subframe but as it's plug n play I am relying on their technical expertise rather than my mechanical incompetence. This guide will tell you all you need to know: Multistrada 1200 Exhaust System Change . Don't expect any instructions in your box from SC Project. As for the map, it's early days yet and the bike seems to be running fine. Having forked out nearly a grand for the exhaust tyre and service in the last month, I'm in no hurry to get a remap as SC Project state that there is no need as the exhaust is developed to not need one. But I'm sure someone will tell you different.
Has to be said that's the best looking Multi exhaust there is. Do the panniers still work OK with it fitted?
Deffo the worst part. They claim 5-6 days but it actually took over 4 weeks. Not a problem now it's fitted though.
From what I've heard, the GP model is LOUD. I haven't taken the baffle out yet but can't imagine I'd need to - it's fruity enough as it is without getting too anti-social. ;-)
DukeXTC, did you also fit the Air Fuel Modifier from SC Project? Their website appears to recommend fitting this, but I don't know whether this is salesmanship.
