Another 'would consider one' here too. If I was in the matket for a road sports bike, would be this, the beemer or pani because I like Ducatis. Think prila would win
Spares...yeah. Been waiting 3 weeks for a footpeg....reliability....mines been perfect. Not an issue in 2 years...while hanging on to a very large heavy wooden coffee table...
Try waiting 4 months for parts. I've heard of people who have ordered parts and the order just gets lost in the ether with no comeback or apology from dealer or Aprilia. If you order anything from the end of June you will be lucky to see it before mid September....or November as it was in my case. I loved my Tuono but when it went wrong it was just a complete and utter pile of shite and lies from dealer to factory and back. Unfortunately i would never buy another and I am not alone in that.
Had no problems with my dealer. Think it helps if your dealer is good. Just had replacement headlight unit done on warranty, all sorted in less than a week. There will always be issues with some things, should realise that dealing with ducati!
I think you are right but i had as many issues with trying to get help from Aprilia themselves as i did with the dealer. It tool a letter to the head of Piaggio UK to get it sorted and i lost a whole summer of biking as a result. Unsurprisingly the dealer is no longer in business. Has left a bitter taste sadly.

Interesting comment I am of the same boat but with my Ducati Panigale!!! cant see me buying another TBH.. They just dotn seem to be up to being ridden 6k miles per year
too many rumours about challenges with spares etc. to tempt me. Plus, I'm tall and no way I could see me on that. A Streetfighter is a small bike for me and this is tiny.
Most are just that, rumours about problems putting people off. Like anything new the warranty experience is all about the dealer as much as anything. They will make or break the deal for many regardless of the manufacturer. I have had 3 Aprilia's and apart from their troubled financial period in 04 where warranty was an issue they have been great. A good independant service source helps long term but just be picky about who you use for warranty/service work. There are some good Dealers out there.
Spoonz- who would you recommend for servicing on Aprilia as I am thinking of ditching the Panigale for one?
Speak to Griff at Aprilia Performance. He is the best in the Aprilia world and a top bloke with it. Will always give you a helpful ear. Even if he is not local to you give him a buzz as he is ex Technical head at Aprilia and knows the good dealers that know their stuff. Many of them still ring him rather than Aprilia for Tech knowledge. He also hosts service days at venues around the UK which is handy.
I have had 2 RSV4's the first was a 10 plate and what a lemon, think of anthing that can go wrong and I had it with this one, even though I loved this bike I got rid. tried a few others including an S1000rr & a pani but chopped the pani in for my 2nd RSV4 which was the APRC version, what a bike this is the best bike I have ever owned !! Spare parts can be a problem as the Italians work on a different timescale to everyone else !! I had the AR GP2r can on mine, clip from Cartagena !!
I think I must be lucky....just stripped mine down today....full service before the tt, coolant flush, samco hoses on the way. I will say admit that there's a bit of leakage on the front head, but this is a known problem that's had an upgrade issued by aprilia, so theyre on their way....tbh the leakage I can see is very minimal so if the heads don't turn up its no biggie. Also ordered one of those quick release sump bolts...thought i d take a punt on that one and see what goes. Lots of lads on the aprilia forum think they're good especially the track dayers... Also ordered a set of hid bulbs too....going all out I am....
Well... The sump bolt is in permanently.... Aprilia RSV4/R/Mille/Tuono Stahlbus Replacement Sump Plug with Oil Drain Valve | eBay Oil drain valves - Bleeding brakes - simply intelligent oil change, leakfree disconnect lines! Our solution: The stahlbus Bleeder Valve, the stahlbus Oil drain valve and the stahlbus Quick disconnect coupling.
Wouldn't call it bling. Not by a long chalk.... Don't have to worry about a good seal ( ie with a regular copper seal), it's tidy, and don't run the risk of threading/wearing the thread out. I think with this I'd do more oil changes as it's easier. Bling is bling (shiny pointless stuff) this serves a purpose, plus unlike bling you can't see it..... You're just miffed you didn't find it first!
