Barratt's sherbert fountain.. you only really ever wanted the sherbert but you never knew how much was inside. The idea was to suck on the stick of liquorice (which got shorter and shorter over the years) until you got some. It was quite a knack and when you finally hit the motherload it came through suddenly in the form of a dusty explosion that usually made your eyes water. 10/10 for concept. My overall favourites were the original Victory V's - highly addictive as they contained ether and now banned as an ingredient.
Anyone remember Aztec bars? (Not to be confused with aztec spacers) When they were released they came with a free badge saying " feed Aztecs to me"... Being raised in my parents sweet shop helped with any new stuff, unfortunately they also sold cigarettes.....
So did mine. But fortunately I have never been tempted to become addicted to tobacco. Only to sweets!
I used to miss Old Jamaica chocolate for years and then found out they still make it but it costs a fortune now unlike the 9p in the pic so it's a treat every now and then.
Does anyone remember Spanish Galleon sweet tobacco ? If my memory serves, it was strands of desiccated coconut dyed brown. Andy
Biggest treat of the week was a bar of that to share with my two brother at the ABC Minors on a Saturday morning in Northampton. Any one else remember collecting the badges!
