I've been a fan of NL for many years. My preferred choice for UK track days; and we're doing our 4th euro track day with them this year at Brno. However... The admin instruction email turned up today. I was aware that we had to pay extra for garages when we turned up (Don't know why that wasn't bundled with the price, but it was in the small print); but now been informed that we have to hire straps to secure the bikes in the crates at £1 a time... Its a bit like saying we'll sort out all the nonsense of transporting the bikes for you, but you'll have to hire a crate, unless you bring your own; Oh, and have you got your own lorry and boat...? They already making a killing of €5 a time to hire a plastic container for petrol ( that must get used a dozen or more times in its life span...) Its not the money, but extra charges are a bit akin to Ryan Air. Sore taste in the mouth, that not even the free tea they provide can easily remove... Might try FE next year for euro trip... Bob
So do i. You use them on the van or trailer when you take your bike to the depot. Its due to the fact that the transport company were kind enogh to provide them foc but didnt get them back. If its a hire fee you will get your money back. Cant see any problem with that at all. Certainly not one the would make me book with fe.
Can understand the principle tho and paying for garages there, wtf is that all about?! Its either inclusive, or not.
So if I hire a car, do I get my money back when I return it? It should be part of the fee, it always used to be.... or does £960 go into someone's sky rocket? Doesn't mean less straps will go missing if they charge a quid a time for them... It's not about the cost, they should have just charged £8 more per slot...
Go with Tracksense, very professional and NONE of the nonsense you mention above. I cannot rate Tracksense highly enough. Track Sense European Track Days
It says we can hire straps, so yes, I expect they'll want them back... else they would be selling them... Never heard of track Sense before, so thanks for link... Bob
its the tight bastids that have borrowed in the past and not returned that is the problem.........i think the guys at hathaway transport was saying something in the region of 3 grands worth over the last few years....6£ a strap x 500.....simples... i have always used my own anyway! people associated with these things and life in general are out to make a fast buck 30 euros for 25 euros worth of fuel and 5 euros for the hassle of getting it.....there is a fuel station at brno with 100 ocatane at a good price so you wont get the fuel grief there.......its the trannys in the titty clubs you wanna watch!
Bit more than just a bump... Update... fantastic trip with NL at Brno. Not a dig at NL, but this was possibly down to great circuit management by the locals... 8 sessions a day. No red flags; despite a few "incidents" Only waited in pit lane once to get out; and that was only for about 20 seconds... Why couldn't UK track days be run so efficiently... ?
When abroad, the thought of smashing yourself up and being stuck in god knows where must play a part v UK where its an ambulance ride home on the NHS. Plus tends to be over a number of days. Which also helps imo
