Mmmmm have just read the posts and damn I wanna come gonna have to sweet sweet talk the mrs as that's also my week off but she will be 8 months pregnant by then will this be selfish of me lol
Hmmm you have a point but we also have 2 others but that would give her some mother and daughter/son time alone
Will ease in the points if I do to much she will know I'm after something lol after all I was meant to get my bike in April for my 30th but got it in oct last year lol but goes to show what power I have
I'm ready to book any time. 1020 out on the 22nd and 1820 coming back on the 25th as suggested by Bradders?
Yep go for it! Expecting the same but mrs probably coming so may have to do a later chunnel and meet you there for dinner in the eve
Let me know if she's not able to make it as we could meet on the way. (Having said that I'm going to look for a cross country route as I want to preserve my tyre from squaring as much as possible before crossing the channel!)
Jedi springs to mind? Although you could have worn her down to exhaustion like I did, leaving her only one option for sanity!
We met a courier at the Nurburgring who pitched up every Friday night after work, and he reckoned it took him 3 hours each way. You'd have to be committed though. Six hours is more like it. If I take the Guzzi it'll be more like ten...
3hrs...In a car yes maybe if no traffic, on a bike no. You have to add an hour for fuel stops! I got from Calais to Dottengen, south of Munich, in about 6hrs from memory but that was at night and a steady 120 on all the autobahns with the occasional 140. Emptied a 70l diesel tank in 400 miles; normal range 650 plus
I've done it twice in around 5-6 hours, and that's pleasant enough, but that's motorway most of the way through Belgium, and no real speed agenda.
I can't wait to see the roads - I'm seriously excited!! Fast or slow I'm happy - the thing I'm most worried about is squaring my tyre!
I suggest aim to get there by 6pm. That leaves time to check into the hotels, have a quick shower, change, and meet up for a meal and drinks. Not critical, 6.30 or even 7.00 would be fine. Don't forget we lose an hour crossing the Channel.
Have fun guys. Done Cochem via a TD at Spa then the Ring a few times. Have a blast, there's some great roads around there.
