Thing is that corner is very wide with plenty of space and run off if needs be. I know that on trackdays I have had people coming up the inside going in to corners or showing a wheel before tipping in and I usualy give space. My rule is not to take out the guy in front and I'd like to think or hope that the guy behind me thinks the same. Even it that half a wheel in front then so be it. There is no big trophy at the end of a track day.
Inters. but tbh the groups were all over the shop. There was at least one rider in fast group being lapped in a session by the other riders!!
The 3rd pin on each plug is an earth wire. Maybe you can earth those wires and it would work. Ask someone with more elec knowledge for better clarification. Places like mm comps or bike sport developments sell the 2 pin connectors which you can fit to the hm loom.
FE.- cheers mate i will do some more more digging. HM were adamant that it could not be done but it could be they just didnt want to make up a different loom Cranker- i dont know if the group was the problem. if riders can elect their own groups then they are often wrong. this is another reason why i like TDO's that use transponders to time everyone and adjust the groups for the riders on the day. On a track like valencia thats hard to pass, long queues of bikes stuck behind a slow rider on a fast bike are the cause of many an overzealous lunge pass and therefore accidents
In my experience, this doesn't happen in the fast group, as its more likely riders can go off line to overtake v other groups where its 'the line'. Hence regardless of my somewhat slower pace I still head to fast, even if I only had 60hp
your right, and i prefer to be in fast group too as the processions tend to happen less . it does depend on the event though. there were still quite few very fast bikes going round corners slowly in the fast group at valencia. enough that some of the the 600 boys got tired of being patient and felt the need block pass and to stand a few litre bikes up mid corner. so that they could get there monies worth i went in inters this time as its the first time i had ridden on track since bouncing my bonce off the tarmac at mugello last year. fitting transponders to all bikes and adjusting groups accordingly is a good solution imho (even if this means that on some events when there are alot of very fast riders there, im bounced back to the inters)
Like Funk says I have also done fast groups that have been not all that fast and inters that have been faster. You'll get guys who go in the fast group because they think they are charlie big spuds but tend to be rolling roundabouts and you'll also get quicker guys going in to inters to look good and stand out in that group. For me if its first track day of the year or somewhere I have never been then inters does me and I try to work and being smooth etc etc. Transponders are defo the way forward
Can't agree more with the comments about running transponders, then moving people around to suit the pace. Especially over a three-day euro trip.... If you want to ride with your mates; then ride at the same pace as your mates... I was at Donninton the other day, and was timing my mate who was riding in the novice group... He was running about 2:10s, where one guy in the same group was over 30s a lap faster... My mate, who was a true novice might, not be on the line everyone else may expect; he is, after all, a novice... New ACU races have to wear a bib, but not track day Novices... I'd gladly pay extra for the transponder service...
