Snetterton 300 Noise Levels Full Termis Panigale 1199s

Discussion in 'Trackdays & Rider Skills' started by daverogers2001, May 15, 2014.

  1. Hi all,

I have a track day booked at the Snetterton 300 in a couple of weeks and I am getting conflicting views as to whether my Pani will pass the noise level test.

I spoke to my dealer yesterday and he said the the Full Termi system is actually quieter with the DB killers in than the standard!!

Just for clarification, has anyone been to Snetterton recently with a Pani 1199 with full termis and what was the outcome/what should I do to reduce the noise accordingly if any?. I would appreciate advice from anyone with 'hands on experience' of actually visiting Snetterton recently on a 1199 with full termis.

Thanks all in advance for you comments

    Cheers

    Dave R

  2. Hello and welcome. Pani on standard cans will pass the drive by, but may fail the static. Its my understanding that Termis are actually quieter than the standard cans.

  3. Moved to trackdays :)

  5. @daverogers2001 I'm interested to learn how you get on, I'm running Termis without baffles and they're def louder.

  6. Put the baffles in then :Headphone:

  7. You'll struggle in two ways the first getting through the noise test and secondly resisting the urge to shove the arrogant jobsworth bastard that does the noise testing's decibel meter up his arse. If its anywhere near 102 Db you'll have problems however if you do I suggest you bypass the arsewipe with the Db meter and go and see race control who will help you out if at all possible. I suggest you give Snett a call.
As a guide my KTM RC8 with completely standard can blows 100 Db at 99% of circuits at Snett it is 102.

  8. Ive heard the Snett now use somebody else to do the noise testing, but haven't been up there this year, so cant say for sure. Snett is the reason why there was the panic with noise testing the Pani as they were reading it up at 107-110 as it was picking up the sound waves from the engine that were reverberating off the tarmac. This is why the drive by (which is actually the one that matters) is used before they pull you off the track

  10. Hi Jon3s, I'm off up to Snetterton on Sunday 31st May 14 armed with some wire wool to shove up the exhaust if required, I was told that this should do the job. Also (from another forum) I was told to warm the bike up first and when the test is done point lean the bike away so that the exhaust points upwards and additionally when required to rev the bike to 5k rpm put it in gear with clutch in.....will let you know how I get on upon my return

  11. One can only hope the previous tosser had an unfortunate accident with his noise meter, amazing just how far one can be pushed up your arse.......

  12. Just an update! Sent a ditty off to Ducati UK about this and received an International call from Ducati in Italy and they requested the Termignoni System Part I have fitted (96450211B) so I sent this info to them and they said that they would get back to me with advice! That was this morning. They responded straight away too. I will let you know what they come back with for those that may be interested. How efficient are they!! :upyeah:

  13. I just got back from snetterton and my termis on my 848 failed at 105 so stuck the baffles in.

  14. Well, went to Snetterton and went to the Static test and he said "is that a Panigale?" I said yes, he said "it will never pass the test no matter what you do" and stuck a pass sticker on it!! He said " it will pass the ride by one though" so anyone with a Panigale for Snetterton, no problems!

  15. Did u go today?

  16. Hi Yes,

It was a fab day. I went up to the static noise check guy and he said is this a Panigale? I said yes, he said there is no way this will pass the check no matter what you do to it but on the track it's fine and without doing the static check he just put the pass on it! Which is pretty much what Ducati said when the responded to an email last week.

It was a great day had fun and the weather was fab wasn't it?

Hope you had a great time on track too

  17. Yer was great were you the one with the red 1199?

I had the white 848 but was in the novice group as my first ever track day :) plus only passed my test in oct so still a newbi :)

  18. Yes that was me, the slowest Panigale on track lol
