Hi all, I am new on here, and eventually just received my 998, she is sleeping in my hall way now ( my wife is a star and very understanding knowing that she (998) is a new member of the family and should not spend her first nights in the shed! See pic. Anyway.... On my tuono I have recently put bridgestone s20 evo on it and they are fantastic, I did a trackday last week at Brands and cannot sing their praises enough, stable, confidence insipiring etc etc... however I have just rung up the ducati shop to put some new tyres on the 998 ( the are old and worn what are on it ) and they only sell Pirelli and Metzeler. The chap on the phone advised Pirelli Rosso Corsa.... should I put these on? Or go elsewhere and put s20 evo on it? It is more than likely I will not be taking my 998 on the track ( it is too precious ), but this may only be a fleeting feeling once I get fed up of sharing the road with cars and idiots, anyway, let me know what tyres you reccomend for a 998? I've just fitted Michelin power pure to my 749 and I think they are fantastic in the dry and wet. Worth every penny. I think tyres will always be a personal choice mainly. It all depends on how hard your are willing to push to really find out how good they are. Years ago I fitted some Dunlops to my old Zx7r after a ex club racer told me they were the best things ever. I had a couple of slides with these on the road and it really knocked my confidents so I stay well clear of them now. Not saying there rubbish or anything but I went back to Michelin after and never had any bother at all. It's in my head now that Michelin are simply the best out there. Personally I wouldn't fit anything else but as I say it's always gonna be a personal choice.
Thanks for that, after reading a bit and thoughts of previous tyres I have had, until I put these s20 evo's on my tuono I too was quite a fan of Michelin, and think the Pilot Power 3, which I think replaced the Pilot Pure might be worth giving a go, its a bit boring have the same tyres.... I'll give them a tinkle tomo
Well decided it stick to what I know, so ordered some s20 evo's, they only came out in march 2014, so compared to pp3 or rosso corsas are newer technology, well that's my silly brain at work, anyway I am happy with the s20 evo's on the tuono so should be happy with them on my 998. Thanks for all advice, tyres are a funny thing cos they are pretty expensive to try a few to see what you like, or spend a few thousand miles regretting your choice......

Indeed 'Onley, a few years ago now. Anyway I am now in Essex, went to Uni in London and got a job in Brentwood and been there since. I'm always tempted to go back "home" for a quieter life, better less busy roads, standard of life v money etc etc, but I'm tied in here for another few years yet. Anyway, back to more exciting things like bikes! Just taken my bike down for the tyres, and they gave me courtesy bike..... a 50cc scooter!!!!!! I look like an idiot, wearing my boots, jacket etc and on a yellow scooter with "go faster" stickers all over it. I did find it quite funny tho, and its only for a day to get around.
