European Multistrada Meeting trip - has anyone done this before?

  1. I was mooching around on the 'other' forum and came across this. The trip this year is to the Dolomites from June 12-15

I've wanted to sort out a decent trip to Europe for a while on the Multistrada but most of my other biking chums have commitments already this year.

The other idea I had was to go to the Classic Endurance race at Spa on the 4,5 & 6 July, although this would probably involve camping with less good roads, but a shorter trip.

If anyone else is thinking of going to either give me a shout...

  2. Nope, never done this.

The Spa classic is a cracking weekend, and so is the road race at Chimay. Just be aware they are very popular, so you need to sort out accomodation / camping rather than just turning up and hoping, else you will be a fair distance away.
It doesn't matter that they are close, you don't have to go the direct route

We do loads of trips with the club I belong to (WVAM) anyway, and will be in France around that time for 11 days.
I see your in Surrey. If you want a good bunch of people to ride with and do trips, you could do a lot worse than joining WVAM.
By way of example, the trips I am already booked on for the next 6 months are roughly:
    March - shropshire 3 days
    April - shropshire 2 days
    May - Germany 4 days
    June - France 11 days
    July - having a rest !
    August - Yorkshire 4 days
There are also rideouts every weekend, and also mid week evenings.
There are a good number of MTS riders in the club too  (some of who are on here too)
Send me a pm if you want details. Sorry, didn't mean this to be a sales pitch.

  3. WW1 Centenary this year, so lots of good stuff going on in and around France if you have an interest . Avoid at peak dates if you don't like crowds though. Book early if your looking at travel, as no doubt crossings will be busier as a result.

  5. An excellent event that I have been attending for years (though not this year). Great bunch of Multi riders from all over the World including Australia, USA. Started out with the original MTS1000 but now dominated by 1200's. Great roads ridden at a good pace :upyeah:

  10. A mate from the next village goes every year and clearly loves it. He says that the group are a great bunch and the rides are awesome. He keeps trying to enlist me but as a non M/S owner I resist.

  11. Could that be Coman by any chance? (AKA Peter L)

  12. I'm signed up now and I've paid my deposit, also PM'd with Coman, Pilot Paul and Dr Dave Boy.

  13. Wish I was going :frown:

  15. Thanks Dave, I've talked to Carole and others a number of times over the last 2 or 3 years about doing the EMM's - always high on my hit list - but was never up to fitness (surgery on my leg every winter after a bike crash a few years back)............I'm past all the surgery now so this Spring will have no 'after effects'/recovery to deal with but I have now come to the realisation that big Euro trips are just not going to be possible, my leg just isn't up to it . I can and have managed 2 or 3 days or so away on the bike but that's in the UK with the comfort of knowing I can head for home any time.

Have read the reports with envy each year after the annual event hoping next year would be the one......c'est la vis
