MTS brake upgrade.

  1. MJ thanks for the info really helpful. Yes it was Jeff Gehrs at Braketech . I have to say customer service on another level :upyeah: . Havent got the callipers yet but recall previously your assessment of the rear replacement. Dont know whether to hold M4 s a bit and go for BST wheels , cant afford both .
Confirming I did get the CP1 pads , again on your advice. Bearing in ming the removal of coating routine and he fact I may not immediately go M4's I take it the CP1 ill fit standard Multi calliper also ?

  2. No they will not.
Ferodo FDB2042 CP1 pads suit the OE Brembo calipers of the MTS1200.
Ferodo FDB2218 CP1Z pads suit the M4 calipers.
EBay for M4's and save a quid or two?

  3. That's what I did. Got my M4's from E Bay of a crashed KTM for a great price.

  4. I was gonna say TT if they were from the KTM SD1290 the Malay journo 'f-tard "12 o'clocked" leaving the pits in Sepang on the test day (it's on YT)...:))

However the SD1290 runs the M50's. M4's are cracking calipers and well priced now.

  5. If I may be so bold nodrog, finish your brake upgrade project first. Do it right. I know your hanging out for the BST's but get your brake project done right first. Trust me...it's worth it. Get your calipers and front lines done and get them on with the rotors.

Bed em in and revel in epic braking performance and then start your new rim project. I know where you're coming from, as I had a pair of OZRacing rims on the back burner at the same time and thankfully it was a buddy in the U.S. who held them for me. I hung tight and finished the brakes first.

  6. Ive just put on a set of brembo pads SC and Brembo Serie Oro disks, + racing fluid. Very big improvement so much feel and stopping power. but i very much now understand how you do one upgrade and it triggers the next upgrade as the abs comes on way to easily now. My next step for brakes is a RCS master cylinder so i can change the lever travel or should i say play with it :) and play with suspension to remove some of the dive. still having fun! 2500 miles to Mugello and back should test them out !

  7. MJ thanks again. I have actually got pads for MTS 1200 and not M4's .My fault not Jeffs ,going to have to test Jeffs customer service again.Think you are right re finishing brakes, would actually go one stage further and question whether BST on this kind of bike is going to make a noticable difference ? Maybe a new thread for that one.

Last question..do you have part number for pads for the upgraded vrear caliper please.

    TT thanks for feedback

    cmyers , enjoy your trip

  8. Been thinking about an RCS master cylinder but not sure how they'll integrate with the enduro hand guards yet. Probably have to get on in my hands and see what needs to be done to make it work.

  9. Yes: Ferodo FDB2074ST (Sintered). Or FDB2074P (Platinum). Go the Sintered.

  10. If you don't have BarkBusters fitted you should be sweet. Any lever that has the adjuster at the end of the lever is the (the big end/axis/connection point) problem. Or may be...

Remember if staying with M4's or OE calipers stick with the Brembo RCS 18-20 lever and MstrCyl.

  11. Nice work and good choice of kit. See my post below about the RCS system. Be careful in what you choose.
Get that rear brake done too. You can use it all the way to Mugello :)))

  12. I have the Ducati Enduro guards, but they come up over the top of the master cylinder. Nothing that can't be "adjusted", I suspect.

I presume you mean making sure to choose the 19mm piston version? The RCS setup is the same on both sizes.

  13. Cheers MJ ,Jeff has come to the rescue and sending pads at old cost despite recent price rise :)

  14. Shit! They've gone up £$? What's the $£ damage now?

CP1's aren't available in Oz! Go figure.

  15. Re Brembo RCS:
Yes, if sticking with the OE calipers or the M4's, use the 19mm one. There's a thread on the U.S. site somewhere that goes into why at length. Talks about piston size, caliper models and "feel".
If ever biting the bullet & going to M50 calipers the 16mm is the go.

  16. BST or OZRacing wheels will make an astonishing difference. It totally alters the rotating mass/centrifugal force, thereby 'flickability' of the bike. I was amazed at the difference it made. It allows the suspension to work much more effectively too as the "un-sprung weight" is now much lighter allowing the suspension to work more effectively.
It also allows, believe it or not, much harder (front) braking IN the corner despite the usual "don't do that shit" protocols.
    Why?
Less centrifugal mass trying to 'stand up' the bike.

  17. Thanks again MJ. Thought I had got the BST's out of my system then you chuck that in :).

Re CP1's Jeff just told me the old price and not how much they had gone up, really good of him I thought not to charge new price when it was clearly an error on my part. If ever you needed new CP1's and you wanted me to get them over here I

  18. Oops . that should have ended I would be happy to help.

  19. Appreciate that mate. MotoWheels do them too.

  20. You'll get there (the BST's), just do the brakes fully first.
