Got a set of flatslides off another member and fitted then today. Had a short run and they rock! Weather was wet and cold up here in Edinburgh, fitted them and a few twists of the grip and after turning over a couple of times it fired up and ran pretty well. It backfired a bit on the first run and when I stopped it spewed fuel out the vent pipe! This was with the standard box lid and exhausts. Went home and changed the lid to a cut one I have and it seemed to be better. They are slightly rich so I think the open any is the way to go. Revs quicker and pulls harder. Sounds awesome too! Recommended mod.....but expensive. Next.....Sil Motor carbon exhausts....
You haven't had fuel p*ssing into the front cylinder when the ignition is on but the engine isn't running?
I asked because I recall several people had issues of a similar nature with FCRs............I don't know if it was because the return flow to the tank was removed or if they need regulators fitted to stop the low psi of the pump overcoming the flow into the carbs... .....but on what your initial test runs indicate, you appear to have them working OK.
Went to start it yesterday and it wouldn't turn. Left it to look at today, thinking it may be a starter issue or perhaps solenoid. Thought about it a bit and it has been leaking petrol on the garage floor. Took fairing off and it appears to be coming from the crankcase!!!! Looking at sight glass and my suspicions were confirmed, its filled the crankcase with petrol, so I drained it and will have to remove the carbs to check that the float isn't stuck. Gonna fit a manual fuel shut off and another inline filter, as is recommended on ducati.ms What a pain, hopefully sort it soon
Shame...............seemed to be OK at first............but what you describe is more or less what I have heard several times. You can get an electric valve from here..... Petrol, diesel, solenoid shut cut off valve 12V , autogas conversions, liquid, air | eBay wire it in with the pump..........
I have FCR's fitted and not had that issue, strange it effects some and not others. Is it to do with the way they are fitted then?
Sent Ca cycleworks an email and Chris got back to me saying it's prob crud in the float needle preventing them closing, this comes from having an old bike, poss wee bit of rust. I blew through the inlet and air is getting through. Clean it up, inline filter and shut off valve should sort it.....hopefully!
If I could find the right manifolds, I would be fitting Dellorto pumpers..............but they would be a waste on the 750.
I am not so afraid of taking them apart now as I have done some fettling and fitted remote fuel adjusters. Putting them back on with filter and fuel tap. Splits are different again to set up aren't they? Will report back when it's all back together
I used one of these; PETROL Solenoid Shutoff Lock Off Valve for LPG Conversion - NEW! | eBay chose that model because it has a manual override in case the solenoid fails, plus it's quite small and easy to find space for. As you say wired in with the fuel pump.
flatslides back on bike with inline filter and fuel tap. Seems to be fixed...... Pulls like a train!!! The best thing I have done to bike, it's like its on steroids, lol!
