Cad Files Or Help With Dimensions.

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by rspete, May 26, 2014.

  1. Has anyone got any cad files or dimensions for engine parts for the 900SS.
Mainly I am looking to play and hopefully educate myself on AutoCAD Inventor and would like dimensions for engine parts to practice with.
If anyone has the time the measurements of the valves would be nice, head diameter, stem diameter, length from base to end of stem and position of retaining groove. These do not need to be super accurate just something for me to play with would be good...
Many thanks to anyone who can help!

  2. I have several Cad files of various items specifically for Ducati Supersport that I did so that someone could fabricate them.......I'm happy to let you have a few, but you will need to check that your program will open my files......Mine are in dwg format ACad ver2002.

  3. You can convert later drawings to older drawings using TrueView.

I'd buy an old engine and split it and measure it myself. You will need an Engineers Flat or surface plate, some verniers, a decents selection of micrometers...Moore & Wright - Moore and Wright etc etc

  4. A Trimos would be nice

  5. Boooo...M&W Rule (hehe a pun)

  6. Or a Faro arm and fully equipped metrology lab! Do the whole bike then ;-)

I actually have a couple of spare engines however they are a couple of hours away literally buried in a storage unit... so was hoping just for the purpose of playing with Inventor and maybe learning a bit...maybe...someone may have some parts they could quickly measure...

Arquebus, I will check but think there should be no problem opening .dwg files so thanks that would be great! (Though obviously a dwg from ACAD 2002 may just prove to be difficult in Inventor 2012 just to spite me!)

  7. a 2002 dwg will be fine in 2012. I open them all day long.

  8. Thanks for that info, all I've got to do is learn to use Inventor!

  9. Ah but can you open a 2008, 2010 0r 2012 file with 2002...........?

Sure as hell can't here........although sometimes LT2004 will......
