Heeeeelp..... Choices choices choices

  1. I have decided to return to bikes after a short break and only want a Ducati.... But I am really stuck with choices.
do I buy my dream bike when i was younger of 998r / 916 sps foggy....?????
have seen a very nice 999r ?... But then the 848 1098 are soooo pretty

Ive read all the reviews, vs tests, etc etc ridden them all and still cant decide.

So Here I am asking for your thoughts ????? It won't be tracked, just ridden on Sundays when I have time.

    Si

  2. How can you have a ducati and ride it on Sunday's!!!!
You must have some will power 

I would have to go with anything foggy

I do like 996 so any of your 9's

  3. I always wanted a 900SS - in red with half-fairings... I remember them coming out & still have the Performance Bikes review of the day...

Last April I got the train out to Wales & bought one!:biggrin:

Never looked back. Lot more comfortable on the road - there may be faster bikes but my throttle hand is not to be trusted.

The 999's tend to be a good buy, cheaper than other Doocats although the styling is starting to catch on?

An original 916 will cost a Lot Of Money! Would personally go for a 998, the Testastretta engine is a LOT more serviceable re: shims etc than the fiddly Desmoquattro...

    My 2p. :upyeah:

  4. i'd go for an R... an R is an R is an R...
    but i'm prejudiced... :)

the 998R should be more expensive then the 999...
unless you start changing it :(

    good luck on the decision...

  5. 999r is pure beauty. Especially
If its a full carbon job.
Painted carbon is just, better, better than anything

  6. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but although the R is the bees knees in any model line-up, don't they require far more maintenance and are more expensive to run than the base models? I always got the impression that being closer to race bikes, they were more delicate, with shorter service intervals etc.

Agree that they have to be the best investment (probably even more fun to ride, too).

  7. Blimey - I'm surprised that you can't make up your mind after having test ridden them all! I bet you know deep down which one is for you!

I've found this approach useful in similar situations ... write them all down on little pieces of paper, fold them up and stick them in a hat ... then just pick one out :)

Pay close attention to your immediate emotion when you read what's on the piece of paper. If your heart sings then that is the bike for you ... if you feel a sense of disappointment then pick the next one out of the hat. Repeat till done :)

  8. 999R no question

  9. no ducati is cheap to maintain. R don't seem to be more expensive in what you have to do with them. But if things go wrong and bits and peices are needed, the the R uses much more expensive parts..
pe 999R : valves are in titanium...
    farings are full carbon ...

  10. Having had a 998r and presently have a 999r, they are different to ride and slightly different to set-up. A late model 999r has a bit more power and more room in the saddle. You wold have to try and see what suits you best.

998 seem to be jacked high at the back where the 999 series are more flat. As Kope999R syas the maintenece is the same as the standard 999 the expensive bit happens should you fall off. the carbon fairings and seat unit are really expensive.

but hey it's a hand built last of a line Ducati. I love it and wouldn't swap it for anything
