848 evo clutch problem

  1. Finally a dry day. Couldn't wait to get out only to be an hour in to the ride and the clutch starting playing up. It really started to stick and got worse. Pulled over and pulled the lever in several times which seem to work. Got ten mins down the road and it started again. Yet again pulled over and switched off and left it for half hour. Started my way back home with no problem. The bike has done 1800 miles from new and is still covered by manufactures warranty so going to ring dealer and get it booked in. Has anyone experienced the same problem with there 848? If so what was it? Cheers

  2. Straightforward answer from me....nope. Not on my previous 848 either.

  3. Sounds like its getting to hot

  4. It was to hot to touch. Rang Sycamore this morning and was told its not uncommon (Great!!) They are picking it up on Thursday. Will update with there findings.

  5. My old 848 did this.
Remove the slave and add a little smear of grease to the push rod end...:upyeah:

  6. Cheers Nelson its nice to know Im not going insane.

  7. IIRC mine had done similar mileage.

  8. I had some issue with my 848, the problem only occured once the bike had warmed up. After it cooled down a bit it was fine, you could hear something sticking when the clutch lever was pulled in thou.
Had it dismatled under warranty and lubricated been fine since, perhaps theres not enough clearance on some push rods / gear and they jam when hot with expansion.

  9. Thats exactly what its been doing John. Cheers for responding

  10. I would suggest giving it a try and test run, but I see normal weather service has been resumed :(

  11. Cheers Troy
Can be dangerous this problem if in traffic, as you have no control when the clutch will engage again. Or you go to pull out of a junction and the clutch sticks and you get stuck half way out.
Be very carefull, best not to ride it really till fixed.

  12. Well the dealer came and picked up the bike Thurdsay. I requested that in addition to sorting the clutch would they kindly service and do a safety inspection prior to holiday tour. It must be noted that i had various dicussions with the service dept regarding the clutch and the information this wonderful site had given me. Sorted I thought, the dealer must of got the message!!!! Oh no no no. I get a phone call today "Your bike is ready sir. Its been serviced and a full safety check carried out. We took it out on a 20 mile test and have found no problem with the clutch" I explained to them that I had not dreamed it and would they either continue to test or do as this site has suggested. They replied with "If you wish us to contiue to test sir this will be at a cost as we do not see there being a problem with the clutch"

I thought dealing with MV was bad. I am a little pissed to say the least. Sorry for the venting off. I do feel a little better now lmao. Cheers
