Just thought I'd say hi as I've been lurking on here for around a year with thoughts of buying an 848. Previously have been riding my first bike of 4 years which is a 2005 zx636. Every time I thought about changing I've jumped back on it and thought " well this is a great bike maybe there's no need to change it"........ How wrong was I! Hard to describe the differences as they are all quite small but add up. I test rode an 848 last year and for the first 10-15 mins around town I honestly hated it. Not being used to a twin and a duke being a bit poor at tight slow turns like mini roundabouts and junctions etc I just felt like I'd stall and/ or drop it. However once I got onto my fave A and B roads I was hooked. Anyway still didn't buy one until a couple of weeks ago I got myself a great 848 evo in red and I'm thrilled with it. Have quickly got used to its slow speed manners now and finding it's got a lot more to give on a proper run than the zx6 both in speed and handling. Oh and the noise, just love it! Also although it's almost a year since I test rode the non evo model this one does seem a little different than I remember, can't put my finger on it but it does. Anyway I shall probably be on here a lot but I'm not a prolific poster, I'll be lurking.
Thats lovely front door topiary - is it a Hastings specialty? Are they plastic? Nice bike, greetings, i am sure you wont be able to resist posting more.......
PLASTIC?!! I'll have you know they take loads of care and attention to.......... Nah course they're plastic. Real plants don't last 5 minutes in my house!
Glad you like it standard ( apart from a DP carbon hugger ) but I don't think it'll stay that way I'm afraid. Looking at new levers, grips and seat to make it a bit more comfy and really considering this for a paint job or maybe with a fairing kit.....
^^^^ Sorry El T but I've had this idea long before even buying the bike. It was even one of the reasons for choosing a red'un over white! Anyhow it's a different bike so that's ok? And a very, very nice bike by the way I've read your reviews on it, sounds great. I shall be booking myself a test ride on one in the near future.
Welcome and super bike. Put some Termi slashcut cans on her with the ecu and filter before they are no longer available(stock is low). I know because I have just had mine done at Cornerspeed, fitted expertly by Neil barrett, and leave the baffles out. Think your bike sounds good now, wait till you have the cans on! Wow!
As above! I thought the same about putting all the goodies on her or not. Must have spent all of 5 seconds thinking about it before laying into evil bay! ;-)
Did you have the race ecu fitted with these? Oh, and one more thing, tell me how much they cost with bits and fitting and I will tell you how much my Termis cost. Deal
I've not had it mapped 'yet' I spoke with moto Rapido and they said it would be okay for normal road use until I can get it in to get it remapped. The problems with the Termigs was that a lot I saw on eBay etc either had burn patches on the carbon or they were marked 'not for road use'. I got offered these by B&C express for £528 inv vat and delivery down from £790 because they were the last set. Next option was Leo Vince but they were £700
