1098 Get The 1098r Back, Woo Hooooo.....

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by Mary Hinge, Jun 4, 2014.

  1. Get mine dynoed and custom mapped today after an engine rebuild with MR..... Wooo hoooo, I'm all excited!
C'mon then, any guesses? 1098R with 70mm system and dyno set custom mapping, full engine rebuild, gearbox rebuild with ceramic rumble, squish set to 1mm, heads gas flowed, Ducati Performance race cams, oversized throttle bodies, crankshaft balanced and, and, ah fuck knows, can't remember.
I can't wait to have a go. It'll be back to its glorious and bonkers best!
My advice to all you lads with a 1098S is chop it in, with a kidney, perhaps, for an R. As Tigger used to say, they're g-r-r-r-e-a-t!!!

  3. I reckon output will be £4k+ :Woot:;)

  4. Ha, too slow. I thought this would be the first comment, you made second. But you ain't far off the mark....

  5. Might have to strap a rocket on to get this.....

  6. MR give you any idea from the dyno what the actual output is on her now?

  7. No mate, I should find out today at some point. But I'm traveling today, should be home tomorrow. I believe MR's dyno gives quite frugal figures. I've had it dynoed before and got 190.3 but dunno if that was the red or blue crayon, if you get my drift.

  8. I do.... This is a dyno place local to me in Tamworth that claimed my 848 gave 160bhp at the rear wheel.Hmmm OK... I wish.... But all in you are looking at one very quick bike once she's run in a bit...

  9. MR's dyno is the one at Hampshire Motorcycles. (Nice place). It measured my bog standard 1198 154bhp. I was there yesterday to have my low fuelling adjusted.

  10. I'd say it pulls nice and clean from low down now??

  11. Mary, I saw your bike at MR when it was going back together. It looked really good!

  12. Oooh, stop it! I've been stuck offshore, West Africa for 5 weeks. Hopefully get it back this weekend.... And thanks!

  13. Yes. After I removed the exup valve it started getty boggy. I think this may have been my fault as i used to have that stalling at lights thing going on and at my last service I may have asked for it to be tweaked. Some time afterwards I removed the valve and found i'd get a bit boggy after launch from a stop. TBH, there is still a minute bit but overall I am happy as its now easier to pull away without dragging the clutch as much. Once I find a set of 70mm headers I will get a full fat remap.

Nice of them to only put forward facing cameras on the hindhead tunnel. I had it bouncing of the limiter in a low gear for the noise. I love tunnels.

  14. Great news! Fingers crossed for a good result, and I bet you will be over the moon! :)

  15. Offshore West Africa?.... Family finally paid up the ransom then??.. :upyeah:
