So I've seen an 1198SP and I'm thinking about getting shot of the 848 evo corse which I thought I would never get rid of so I can have the big girl. I've just about convinced myself it's a good idea so can you lovely forum people either talk some sense into me or help to convince me it's an amazing idea
I think I'm going for a closer look today but that will probably only lead to one outcome. I can think of loads of good reasons to get it and none not to do it.
Sounds like u have already done it mate! If u can afford it then go for it. Didn't the 1198sp have the Ohlins TTX rear shock? There seems to be lots of upgrades all over the bike, lighter wheels, Ohlins front and steering damper.
Have you ridden it though? I've bought bikes on looks before (doh, infact I've just done it again) and felt let down when I've ridden it.
Factory warranty or dealer warranty? Factory is best.... Do you know what to look for in a used bike? If not, take a pal who does. There are a few track whores out there that have had their priddy bodywork put back on after a period of jolly good, relentless thrashing!! You're likely to be fine, just sayin....
Well I've took it out, everything seems fine the gears are all good and the quicksifter is working fine. The bike is in excellent condition and the belts have been done only a few month ago and I've got a lot of faith in J and L motorcycles so my deposit is down and I'm picking her up next week. It's my first go on a 1098/1198 and I have to compare it to the panigale I tried last year. The 1198 is fast and builds its speed from nowhere and the panigale has less down the bottom end then roundhouse kicks you in the face when the revs get up where the power is. I had to ask myself if I should buy the SP or a base model panigale but the SP just feels a bit more special.
