Hi all, I'm new on here and hoping somebody can help me out with experience or knowledge of a couple of issues! I have a 2007 1098 which I've owned for a couple of years now. Just recently my fans stopped spinning up properly and were just 'ticking' round. I ran 12v to the fans and they worked fine, tested the relay and all was well. My local workshop said the ecu was buggered and had a mass of fault codes and one or two that wouldn't clear. So...one trip to fleabay later and I have a pair or scorpion slip ons and a termi ecu. I fitted it all today and the bike fired up better than ever before but the fans now only run slowly...but at least now they're continually spinning. I'm considering sticking a manual switch on it to override the fan issue, but my main question is whether the milage is held on the ecu? I thought it'd be the clocks as per my Aprilia, but suddenly the dash is showing 36k miles! Bike worthless! Have I just wasted a heap of money? Can I get the ecu reprogrammed to eradicate the milage? I'd rather have it at zero and keep the old mots than explain how it ended up 20k more in a year. What happens if I bought a brand new ecu, would everything be back to zero again? Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated!
No mileage in the ECU, so no problem there. what was the mileage when you swapped ECU? Is the readout now in Km? You can change this via the dash. As for the fans. They are controlled by a relay on the right side of the battery box. There are two relays and the fan one is the first. The relay is earth triggered by the ECU. The relays are cheap to replace. Thanks chrisw...yep, it's in km...that'll explain it! It was around 20k miles so that adds up! I'll change that tomorrow...I did check the relay and it clicked open and had continuity so I'm guessing it maybe breaking down. I'll see if I can get one in the morning and hope it solves the problem. Can't believe I didn't notice the kph, but long hot day paving south facing garden = stupid brain
The ECU controls the regional settings. Push the upper part of the control Button on the left handlebar and at the same time turn ignition on, use the lower button to change setting till you reach "SET UNIT", push the lower button and hold for several seconds, then choose the country: EU, UK, USA, CND, JAP, FR, push the lower button till the display shows MEM then turn the ignition off. Buy yourself a 12v 4 pin Micro relay. They are cheap even from the Ducati dealer.
Hi Justin, please see my problem with the same issue on my 1198, we have only just found what the problem is, its in Fans Running Slowly (Pg 2) of Tech Help section
