......two years of ownership and I still manage to ask silly questions! lol The MTS12 is one complicated high tech beast, I still regularly have 'I didn't know that' moments as I trawl the forum, simple even apparently stupid questions sometimes lead to very interesting info/facts/tips being posted ;-)
There was a video on ducatisti of the pre-load in motion as it was stepped thru the different settings I don't know who posted it but a picture is worth a thousand words.
Wish i had read this first (the bike is now at Ducati Leeds getting checked out tomorrow). I will post their comments as soon i get notification.
Hmmm... In each "mode": Sport, Touring, Urban & Enduro you can set the pre-load settings; e.g. Single rider/Single rider + luggage etc, however, it will apply those pre-load settings across each "mode". So for example; you dial in 2 rider / no luggage in Urban: that is applied across the other "modes" too. Bugger. You can't dial in single rider in Urban and have 2 riders and no luggage in Touring. Dial in one-and it applies to all the others. Bugger. Now just to really confound everyone, what if I change the DES settings in let's say Urban Single rider (front compression, rebound, rear pre-load etc) and save it..does it apply the same DES to Touring or Sport? I think not. Trick effer isn't it
May I just add, the only time a question is silly is if it's been asked before on the forum ie the question asker has not done his research! But even then we will show exasperated kindness and answer )
Here's how to get around that...... Go to the DES settings for Touring for '2 riders and no luggage' and write them down. Go to the DES settings for Touring for 'single rider' and change them to match what you wrote down (and store them in the memory). Now when you dial in 'single rider' and change from Urban to Touring, it'll apply the settings for 'two riders and no luggage' to Touring's 'single rider' mode. It's not intuitive, but it is incredibly accommodating. I've set my 'rider and luggage' dial in so that when I go into Enduro, it takes the compression and rebound out by two clicks on all settings from the standard Touring 'rider plus luggage' values (F: c21, r11 changes to F: c23, r13 and R: c11, r21 changes to R: c13, r23) which is similar to the BMW RT 'comfort' mode (I'm still fine tuning it - I think another click out on all of them might do it). I'm going to change the power to 150 low, too, at some point. Effectively, you can change ALL of the settings for 16 different dial-ins. If you have a specific set-up in mind and have trouble, give me a shout and I'll see if I can help.
Collected the Multi today from Ducati Leeds and had a demo of how to set up the riding modes. The bike needs to be in single rider mode to set the damping, rebound etc. Ducati Multistrada 1200 If you check out this site it all becomes clear. Had a new front tyre fitted whilst she was being checked over, the bike was set to Single Rider and therefore the suspension was set to max hence no movement in the suspension.
Not quite, you can start the adjustment from any mode. You just have to 'long press' the button that scrolls through the range, fuel consumption etc, then select DES, then choose which 'riding' mode you want to adjust, then choose which 'load' mode you want to adjust etc.
