urgent advice needed , anyone got an or rode a bmw hp4 need honest opinions what they are like ,cant get hp4 demo only std s1000rr ,
I had an S1000RR had nothing but trouble with it. Do some research, you'll find everything from blown engines (I had that) to blown gearboxes (had that too) I used my S1000RR for track day instructing, so had a hardish life. Saying that, iv heard of a load of road bike going pop too.
Mates gear box has started to eat itself after 1,600 miles. BMW are replacing it even though they know its a race bike.
They are good like that. I had one engine and one new gearbox in the new engine all done under warranty.
yeh have heard about superstock lads blowing up boxes and cranks but also on zx10 and gear boxes on blades , was wanting to know something about ride feel electronics etc as you cant get a hp4 demo there only built to order etc ,
thought id ask on here el toro as im sure theres some got panni and hp4 so would get a better comparison cheers,
Ride, it feels like a K5 GSXR 1000, that's what the S1000RR I was based on it feels as smooth and very Japanese. The electronics are pretty good, although you really have to be going some for them to kick in whilst riding on the road. Anti wheelie can be too intrusive. The fly by wire throttle is beautiful with a silky smooth action. They are a fantastic bike. Brutally fast too!! Faster than anything you would of ridden before. Like ballistically fast
I was talking to an HP 4 owner on Friday at a Beemer dealers. He bought the bike in January only for it to blow a fork seal. He was getting it fitted. That's five months of waiting for bmw to get the part in.
where abouts are you, you can have a go of my HP4, 3000 miles and nothing gone wrong yet (im in Essex)
im in Newcastle dave but big thanks for that ,, just tested a std s1000rr today did not like at all so the hp4 is out im afraid ,think its gonna take some thing special to get me off me panni and tbh since I fitted termis it is much smoother ,
Sorry to slightly hijack this but I've just put a thread in the 1199 section about snatchy throttle on the 1199 I had a test ride on today, when you say you've fitted the termis and it is much smoother are you referring to the throttle ? And on topic my only experience with them was on a track event in Almeria, one guy's active suspension failed on the first day. Isolated incident and there were a few others there that ran fine but it made me think about all the electronics, same with the Pani S I suppose.
