Who's Going To Assen?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by S1VWL, Jun 13, 2014.

  1. We're a group of 3 Panigales (2 x Red 1199S's and an 1199 Tricolore) heading from Bristol to the Harwich Ferry on the Friday evening. Anyone else on a similar route?

  2. Going but not taking bikes. Staying in amsterdam and getting train from there to qualifying and race day.

  3. heading over from harwich on the wednesday
and visiting a friend in delft
then heading over to assen on the thursday
so get both friday and saturday at the track

  4. Do you mean you are looking for 3 humans to ride you there? You type well for a motorcycle! :Wideyed:

  5. Were on the Newcastle ferry thursday night ,red 1098s white gsxr 1000

  6. Yep, me and my brother are booked on the Harwich ferry on Thursday, me on the Shitebird, bruv on his 1098S. We're staying in Groningen, if you want to catch up with us, find the Drie Gezusters (three sisters) pub...

  7. I've just been discussing this with the mrs as she's never done a 'tour' on bikes so figured this might be a good opportunity to go see a GP race as well :)

We'd probably go via the tunnel and ride up through to Assen (500km)

Does anybody have any ideas on a good route to take up on the Friday? We'd get to Calais first thing so would have all day to get to whichever hotel we book

Something scenic would be nice, don't mind if it's slower, just don't fancy blasting motorway the entire journey

  8. It's popular with brits because it's the 'local' continental race, and it's a great track. But I've been there 3 times and never really found a nice road. Going from Harwich rather than the chunnel this time, so I'll report back, but Dutch roads all seem to be dual-carriageways full of flower lorries.

  9. Perhaps ill post up on the multi section, somebody must have found a half decent route by now, I'd at least like to ride past a few windmills and canabis fields :)

  10. If you go to the Multi section you should at least find out which breakdown and recovery service offers the best value...

  11. A box of matches and a litre of petrol should do the trick, I'll just catch a flight home :)

  12. Me and the wife are coming over on my multistrada, unfortunately cant get over until the saturday morning so a quick dash up from the hook to the track a night in a local hotel and then home sunday. Looking forward to it never been to watch motogp before so ive booked this one, Silverstone, Misano and Valencia!

  13. Does anyone have any experience with the local police and noise? Should baffles be fitted before travelling?

  14. Don't even consider it, full race systems are the norm, not the exception.

  15. Does anybody have a recommendation of somewhere to stay the night after the race?

Don't fancy Amsterdam but if we could leave the race and head further south back towards Calais direction to make the following day a shorter trip that'd be good.

Is there any nice places south Netherlands?

  16. Come to Groningen, get smashed up with me!

  17. At least without the put holes, gravel and hedges ;)

    Cheers,
    Nick (NL)

  18. Good point well made:(

  19. As tempting as that is I'm trying to ease the mrs in to this gently......I fear a beer fueled meeting with the one Mr Figaro would certainly make her uneasy about the following days ride home..... I'm no good with hangovers and I think that'd be mandatory :)

Very kind of you though.............maybe just a half then ;)

  20. But you're going to the party at Assen town on Friday night, right..?

You can't miss that, it's the whole point of the trip.
