Can anyone help me find a relay for my new led indicator lights, having trouble finding one that's worked.
Usually the relays are generic almost anything from any bike will work just check if the original is 2 pin or 3 pin. Then look in the Bay of fleas for an electronic flasher relay with the same number of wires. Surprised if you are having difficulty getting them to work John
Most of the newer Ducatis don't have an indicator relay. They are controlled by the dash. As Antony has suggested, fit some resistors.
I believe that 2003 ducati's with the Marelli ECU use the CAN bus system and don't have a flasher relay. The Clocks control the front indicators and tells the ECU to flash the rears.
There's no Canbus or ECU involvement with the indicators For example, on the 749/999 the indicators get their flash signal from dash connector pins 6 (F/L),7 (R/L), 24 (F/R) & 25 (R/R). On the 848/1098/1198 from 2 (F/L), 3 (R/L), 4 (F/R) & 5 (R/R). On the Streetfighter 1098 7 (F&R/L) & 13 (F&R/R).
Hi Antonyne I ASS-sumed that OP knew if he had a relay or not in the bike and the wiring diag I looked at for the 749 showed a relay. Electronic flasher relays are load independent, so you can run bulbs, LEDs or any combination and still get a constant flash rate. The flash is generated by a clock circuit electronically not a bi-metallic strip which depends on a fixed current value to obtain the flash rate. Just added in the vane case that somebody might actually use the search function on a similar problem. Resistors IMHO are a total pain in the ass and only waste power and melt shit. I only use them if its a newer bike with the flash controlled in the dash in which case you have very little choice if you encounter a problem..........................Oh and don't get me started on Canbus that shit has a life of its own, don't take my word I remember chatting with Arthur Bikemad about it 2 identical bikes with a similar setup and both getting different results on flash rated. That's Ducati for you Bespoke motorcycles for the gentry. John
