Well after only having the bike for two months it looks like the house build budget is needing a top up so I going to have to sell the bike. It's been great fun and having had the belts done, new Pirelli Rosso 2s and the suspension set up done its a pain yet I always knew never to get too fond of it as I may have to sell it. Decision made in my mind so it's going up on Auto Trader and the Market Place on the forum too. Now looking at an intern bike for 12 months until I can potentially get the 899 maybe.... So what's the view guys and girls, I'm thinking a budget of £6.5-7k max (a little cash stashed away the wifey doesn't know about) for either:- 1. An older standard 848 2. Back to one of the first 1098 or 1098s 3. CBR1000RR yr2009 onwards Or do I go to something really different to me, an adventure or naked bike...? So what's the view...... Cornish
Yup Major, had an older one before and never had a complaint yet lacked soul however a cracking bike though. Just bee looking at one at Ducati Manchester for a p/x maybe, we shall see what they say as the feedback on them with customer service hasn't been good.
4.916sps or 996sps for some old school mad raw uncivilised fun compared to 848/1098.Wont loose any money in depreciation either if you fancy a 899 in 12 months time.
Matt that's a fair punt my friend, yet the more I look the more the blade is coming out on top FTB as I want to commute on it too so it'll take the miles better? Love the 996 though defo one for the garage at some stage. If the wife can stop "upgrading" the flipping kitchen, bathroom, appliances and the like if be a happier boy
I'm certainly swaying towards the blade. Ducati Manchester, hmm, heard their customer service wasn't good yet emailed them last night about the blade they had and asked they call me first thing (well they're selling it) and had a mad day so forgot to chase it. Called them at end of the day and "if you'd only phoned 20 minutes ago as I've sold it..." Doesn't really cut it with me. They'd have had that email first thing and a call wouldn't have gone a miss. They reckon they've another coming in so calling me tomorrow we shall see.
Hqving had an 05 blade and an 05 gixer, the blade is easier to ride but the gixer is waaaayyy more fun! I'd imagine it hasnt changed much since
The blade has changed a lot though when they brought the 08 model out but they are fairly similar bikes
brog86, the HRC colours are the one I'm after. It's a solid bike and can cope with commuting or pushing hard on track and of course looks the best. It's a struggle as clearly I want the best one with all the exhaust, PC, quick shifter etc all on (not worries about TC) yet that means spending money meant for the house...of the dilemma I'll keep you guys updated either way. I'm loving the 848 it's the "perfect" all rounder for me and being back in the Ducati fold is always a privilege. If I do go for the Blade done worry it'll only be for a whole before I'm back to twins again. I always do..
Blade I reckon, 09+ but even the 08's are bloody bomb proof. My mate has got 24000 miles on his and they've been really really hard miles too, Nurburgring every year, track days, you name it he's done it. It's been crashed 3 times at Donington and still never missed a beat To say he can afford any bike he wants, and I do mean any bike then it's testament to the bike as he's never felt the need for anything else
damodici, i agree its a cracking bike and one I'm heading towards. No one trying to persuade me on an older 848 then?
Get a naked bike, something like a Tuono, Speed Triple or a Superduke will have you grinning like an idiot!
Attila, some good ideas there my friend. I've tried the Street and Speed triples before and in fact had a 675, yet they just don't do it on the looks front for me (come on I'm a ducati man after all). the Superduke is one I've previously considered too, lush looking and a hooligan of a bike from the reviews I've read. Tuono, my mate had one and it didn't float my boat sorry to say. I shall have a look at the Superduke...
I have a 990 Superduke and I'd heartily recommend it. It is just about the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Take a test ride of an 07 or later bike and you'll be sold
Thought you are selling a 848 SE and funding another bike plus releasing some building funds. Must have misread it
