  1. have you bought it yet? :)

  2. Right, went and viewed the bike this evening, tell me what you all think and if you see anything out of the ordinary/dodgy/non standard..

  3. This was the only concern, a small weeping oil leak on the bottom of the engine which was dribbling down along the oil cooler/rad (I'm not used to ducs) and it seemed to be coming from the side round casing (two Allen bolts) or/and the bottom seal/gasket. What do y'all reckon? I put down a deposit...

  4. It looks like it has a biposto (twin seat) rear subframe? (sorry if this has already been mentioned) does it have the biposto seat? definitely not a full system, just Termi slip-on's.

  5. Thanks for confirming that conquest carbon. And yes it is a biposto but has a monoposto seat unit on it, it also comes with the original biposto seat unit. Anyone shed any light on the weepy bottom end? :upyeah:

  6. That's a 996s model. Stunning

  7. I disagree, missing the ohlins rear shock and 50mm exhaust. The "s" version has a sps engine.

The 9700 mile makes me wonder.....doesn't seems to be loved, but that's just an opinion ;)

  8. If you don't buy it, I will :)

This has been covered before but the s engine doesn't have all the sps goodies.

  9. I'd still buy it but I too would question the mileage given the extent of some of the corrosion to the casings and rear shock etc. Then again, I guess you are in the UK and from what I recall the weather is fairly shit? My 998 (from Switzerland) has 40,000kms and when I take the fairings off, everything is as new!

  10. Like this!

  11. Looks to be in good condition to me and quite unmolested which is pretty rare, other than the Termis, seat, screen, carbon mudguard hugger & heat shield she looks standard. Can't see the little oil leak being much of a problem , get her bought :upyeah:

  12. What !! no oil in the sight glass, there should be some showing even leaning on the side stand. Otherwise a tidy looking bike.

  13. JoeC your bike looks mint, very nice! Yeah the weather is utter shite over here in the UK so for a 13 year old bike it doesn't look too bad at all, no rust or anything apart from the bottom of the rear spring is flaking a little. She just needs a good clean really.

As you all know he was asking for £4,750. I came down on him like a sack of potats, about the leak and servicing/new rubber hoops and managed to get him to £4,000...picking her up sat :upyeah:

  14. Awesome! Great purchase that. U will love it!!

  15. Hard to be sure from pics but looks like the rocker cover gasket's weeping - nature of the engine means that the front cylinder head always has a pool of oil inside and the gasket may not have been replaced during the service? No problem though as you'll want to be changing the gaskets during the service anyway.

Could be also be camshaft cap 'O' rings which, again are easily replaced or even just a loose oil cooler hose. Bike looks fine to me though and nothing a good service wouldn't fix, I reckon you've got a good'un there. :upyeah:

  16. Absolute bargain, congratulations. Andy

  17. Congrats, well worth it!!

  18. Thanks all :) next oil seal is £1.50 hehe.

    Here's the next dilemma....servicing..

Ducati Wolverhampton full service excluding fork oil....£630 including VAT and earliest 15th July
Ducati John (150 mile journey) full service including fork oil.... £660 - £750 including VAT earliest end July
Ducati ME :upyeah: Full service including fork oil.... £250 using genuine ducati parts, earliest start next week!

Any of you do the belts yourself? £250 at ducati Wolverhampton just to have belts done.

  19. Hey well done, you'll love it. Now get busy with the elbow grease! Mine was an absolute steal at roughly the equivalent of £3750 from a Ducati concessionaire just north of Zurich. If it didn't have the full service history to verify the kilometres, I would swear someone had wound the clock forward. I'm on the lookout for a good 999S/R now.

  20. Sounds too good to be true, the belts alone cost over £100 and given the time taken to change them and check the valves & rockers, never mind service the forks, they must be working for a couple of quid an hour?

I do my own servicing and the parts required for a 'full' service probably cost close to £200 and that's not including any valve shims or air filters (I have a stock of shims and re-usable filters)...
