Straight through, for the fifth year running.......no advisories........ It's not difficult is it?
My helmet is always a tight fit................(so I'm told) I polished it; checked tyre pressures; changed the sprocket carrier; changed the petrol tank breather valve; fitted rear brake pads (they have been low since I got it five years ago); might have done the belts and oil change ---- haven't checked to see if I did them just before the last MOT.
I hate MOT`s, nearly as much as I hate going to the dentists. I dont know why, I always have done. I start getting all nervous and sweaty palms as the tester is prodding about my bike/car. Still, my 996 passed last month without any problems at all (other than a headlamp bulb). Still ive probably spent about 2 grand on it since the last MOT.....
You got straight through pipes on Al? My guy would have failed me even though I recon he would have never seen a cleaner bike than mine in the mot bay!!!
Ah I see mine are louder than the Devil. Can't run it early doors. May have a think about how to quiet it down a bit
Mine is due any day now. Have got the annual pain of swapping the exhausts back for standard just for the test, then swap them back again to look forward to. My Arrow cans have 'not for road use' on them and they are quite loud, also I have no pillion footrests when they are on and although I have a cover over the seat I believe that it would fail on that?
Ha.............and I did a load of refurb work at Walthamstow Garage.....not buses, but the buildings........ I'm pretty sure May-Gray were before my time.......I didn't start until 1988 (aged 36)....... .......but I had wanted to do it from about the age of 14...........or possibly before then, because my Grandparents' next door neighbour was Mike Fiddaman.........
I reckon it was in '84-ish I was involved at Walthamstow Garage.......I was working for McL&H....... I recall the Alan May incident, but I never knew him (didn't go to the IOM with our outfit until about 1990.....and thank God it was only the once!), but we did have a 'similar' at one circuit where it flipped over at about 100mph (went on the grass and then back onto the track.........I can recall keeping the d*mn thing 'up' while the driver got out and then I let go.... Our small one was a TZ350 in a Derbyshire chassis........Don't know what the 1100 chassis was......Looked a bit Windle-ish at the front.....
Well mine passed yesterday, also with no advisories. This was though after swapping the cans back for the standard ones, as my Arrows have 'Not for Road Use' on them and also have no pillion rests. I asked the question about the lack of pillion footrests and was advised it would fail, as although I have a cover over the pillion seat there is nothing to stop me removing it to take a passenger.
My MOT tester has exactly the same view regarding the seat and pillion footrests.........I had to bodge up a pair to fit with my high level cans, which look and work OK, but the tester knows I remove them as soon as the bike has passed the test.....
I have strips of silver reflective tape stuck over 'Not for road use' on mine- never had an issue. Always have to re attach the pillion pegs though.
