Well it all officially kicks off today! The roads round here are already causing chaos with roads being closed off and diversions in place. Added to which the hundreds of thousands of visitors that will be in the area to watch it go through Yorkshire will undoubtedly be a friggin' nuisance all round causing congestion, pollution, noise, litter etc. My car is parked up for the weekend and won't go anywhere till it's all over. And there's no point trying to get the bike out cos the roads are shut! Plus I've got to host nine, yes nine, people this whole weekend who all want bedding, feeding and watering all weekend to "watch this once in a lifetime" event as it goes by! The local councils have allegedly spent £12m in bringing the TdF to the area but no one is saying how much revenue it will bring in to the area. That's either cos they don't know or (more than likely) it won't cover the £12m paid out. :Banghead: So overall is it worth it? Traffic congestion, chaos, diversions, pollution, noise, litter, unable to go anywhere, added individual cost and upheaval to my weekend by me having to be "the genial host". Hell yes! It'll be brilliant! Can't wait. Plus we've got brand new roads round here out of the whole deal which will make biking more fun when it's all done and dusted! Fandabbydozey!
Excellent, I will watch the TdeF on the telly and pop over to enjoy the new roads when everyone has gone home.
I'm also loving how the locals have taken to the TdF. This is on top of York Minster Zoom in on what it says
Dont forget to let the cassoulet 'rest'. It helps the beans to 'relax' and makes them much more tender...
