Nah waiting for Wimbledon Umm no gardening waiting for him out doors to stop fettling in the garage :sigh:
Got to our viewing position at 11.45am in readiness for the riders to pass about 3pm Just a few pics whilst we waited:
Amazing scenes. Glad the sun came out. Looks like the whole of Yorkshire are out to view the race. Meanwhile, the whole of Lanc's burglars have come in by the coachload to help themselves.
Tomorrow it's our turn, in East London, to have a lot of roads closed down for much of the day on account of the TdF. Huge jams expected. The London Marathon is held on a Sunday morning, so not too much disruption. This TdF is on a Monday afternoon.
Great day Saturday.Thought we would soak up the atmosphere then ride over the top to Bakewell grand day.
Well, went to the Mall today with just about everyone else who was supposed to be at work this afternoon! It was really well setup, we had huge screens everywhere to watch the full race, and the crowd was amazing. Unfortunately unless you were at least 25 feet tall there was no way you could actually see the racers through the ten-fifteen deep rows of people lining the final few kms, but watching the screens above as they tore past on the final sprint was still a good atmosphere. Have to say though, that the commute home tonight was a hot pace! No doubt spurred on by the drug fuelled superhumans we had all watched, the commute run home through West London was a flat out affair - phew! Allez Froome - let's hope our boy does well. I have to say that I think that the spectacle has been brilliant, and the Yorkshire stages were a fantastic turn out. It has been nice to see everyone really get into the spirit of it all (except for Pete, obviously). No Sagan wheelies today though down the Mall - my only disappointment.....
I went past my road, 20m from my house in 2007. Stayed away then, as the area was shut down. The pot holes came back soon enough.
He has but he looks like he's been on the receiving end of a Claymore. The peloton are doing 'dead fly' impressions on the slippery roads.
