Michelin Pr2 Offer

  1. I got an email from M&P the other day offering, amongst other things, a front and rear PR2 and a free paddock stand for £149.99.
As long as the tyre has been stored correctly and not sat in a shop window for a couple of years, would you be put off buying it?
Has anyone got any experiences of new older stock tyres being unfit for purpose?

Here`s the offers if anyone`s interested.

  2. Ok, so I take it no one`s had any bad experiences, cool.

I just rang M&P and the guy I spoke to said the tyres wouldn`t have a date stamp older than six years. I`m guessing the pilot road 2`s are going to be old stock because Michelin have released the pr3`s and 4`s since. Am I wrong about that, are they still being made?
Here`s the thing, which would you choose? The pr2`s with maybe an older date stamp for £150 the pair or, Maxxis Supermaxx that are stamped 2013/14 for the same price?

Oh yes, you just have the two options above, no secret option number 3, a completely different make of tyre. :)

  3. Depends on how you ride? What do you want a tyre to do? Is it milage or grip?
I would quite happy to have the PR2 and I was very fond of them until they stopped making them for the rear of my bike 2 years ago . Older tyres are fine.... if you are going to get the wear out of them before they become antiques!!

  4. I was going to get the Michelin pr2`s but, because I never buy in haste, I thought I`d have one last look. I ended up going for secret option number 3 after all:rolleyes:, a pair of Michelin Pilot Powers for £139.
I like the price and surely they`ve got to be better than the worn out tyres the bike`s sat on at the minute.

  5. I had a pair of Michelin Pilot Powers fitted on my Cagiva Raptor 1000 last week , only done approx 70 - 80 miles , what a difference to my previous older generation Michelin tyres .
I've had Pilot Powers on my 916 for quite a few year's , forgot how good they are ...
    I payed £143 fitted ... ... ... ...

  6. Hi Pierre. Pilot Road 2's are still in production. I would doubt that any bought would have a date stamp that is older than 2013.

  7. I stuck a pair of PR1s on my zzr a couple of months ago. I'm not sure how long they've been lying around but I'm happy enough with them. I got a fair milage out of their predecessors in the year I had them - also pr1s. Didn't get them at a bargain price though, alas...

  8. I got them from Demon Tweeks, should be delivered tomorrow or Friday.
The courier will ring an hour before delivery so no waiting in all day either.

  9. The tyres arrived earlier today, they`re nice and shiny and the dates are 22/14 rear, 10/14 front, so fairly fresh out the oven. The courier rang to say he would be here in an hour and he was.
They`re being fitted now to loose rims and should be ready to collect tomorrow by 10 am.

Demon Tweeks and Parcel Force get a big thumbs up from me. :upyeah:
