Can't decide what to do.

  1. I'd all but decided to sell the fuglystrada a few weeks ago, but took it out for a thrash today and had a whale of a time, so now I can't decide what to do:rolleyes:

Sometimes it frustrates me with it's gruff low speed manners and hellishly noisy clutch. But it's such a capable, chuckable bike, it's hard to ignore in favour of my triumph. The Triumph is a supremely capable bike but has nowhere near as much charisma as the duke. I know it's a bit old hat, but I love that aircooled L-twin motor; it makes just the right amount of power in just the right place for me, and the chassis on the fugly is beyond reproach.

Yet still I'm of a mind to sell it. I don't do enough miles to warrant two bikes, and I can't justify selling the triumph cos it's my mileage machine, the one I go touring on. Bloody Ducatis; they get under your skin, don't they..? Actually, I might px it for a Monster. Not had one of them yet...

  2. I know exactly what you mean Fig - I would try a Monster but get ready for a face buffeting at anything over legal (depending which one I should add). I'm still getting used to my M900 as the front feels so light compared to SS equiv.

  3. Why cant you do miles on the numpty instead of the trumpet?

  4. The germans used to torture british airmen by making them sit on a Multistrada seat for up to half an hour at a time, the bastards:eek:

I take it you've got a 1200, bradders, and not an early 1000 like me. I've got a gel seat on mine, and it's still purgatory. The distance between seat and pegs (bearing in mind I'm coming from a sportsbike background) is too big to take any weight on your legs, so all your weight is directed straight through your arse onto a seat that, if it was made of mahogany, would be softer. Gives my piles some serious gyp...

  5. Bradders has got a 1000 IIRC. I also have a thou and I think it's really comfy (standard 2005 seat).

  6. So you want one bike or two?
If you do want two, why sell the Fugly, as you like it?

Ah-hah! Gotcha! Your emotional side and rational side are locked into a death grip.

  7. That's about the strength of it. My rational side says flog it and go on holiday, but the irrational bikey side says hey, that bike is fun, why not try another...

  8. Fig, sell it and go on holiday. Whilst on holiday you will have lots to drink, get merry, think the world is a wonderful place and come to the conclusion that you cant have too many bikes, life is too short and purchase a new bike on your return. Happy days!

  9. Trouble is, every time I find money in my bank I go out and buy another bike. Hence the fuglystrada...It's an illness, I tell ya.

  10. It's the sin of Greed, fig.

  11. You've met me Pete, do I look greedy to you..?

    (Or just hungry:rolleyes:)

  12. And anyway, it's your fault I bought a Multistrada:mad:

  13. Had an early 1000 and with gel seat found it ok tbh...except all the weight thru my back made it very uncomftable after a ride as I had a trapped nerve! So sold it and went back to something comfy; 848

Most comfy bik ever? 1200Gs. Would have another

  14. Mine's got a gel seat, but it took a while for my arse to get used to bearing all my weight in an upright position, and I still prefer to ride in a semi-prone position. The Triumph is supremely comfortable, and so was my old ST2.

  15. ST2 gave me tennis elbow (unless I was racing the sports bike lot ;) ) funny that riding position looks so similar to GS but world apart. Pull aces wheelie tho, my old nuumpty :D

Do wonder what he new numpty must be like

  16. After following Pete in germany and Belgium, I can confirm the new Multi is fookin' fast:eek:

  17. If it was lower I'd be inclined to have a proper look...GS with power and better handling gotta be a good thing
