£300 for a service, 3 days later, car won't start. Checked fuses etc. Dash lights up then dies when I press the start button, looks like the electrics don't know what's working and what doesn't. F'ing car Hopefully a relay somewhere.
broken main earth. loose battery connections or fucked battery.. you can have that for free, next time i get called out 39+vat.
you can quickly diagnose the earth lead using a set of jump leads. connect black on lead to clean part of engine other end to neg battery terminal. there is also a pile of connections on the battery lead no harm to check them.

Get the garage out to it, they have obviously missed something, at £300 I assume this is a main dealer? I use an independent alfa specialist half the price and better service.
Thank you all for the help. Appreciate the comments. Sorry, the car is a Brera, diesel 2.4 something JTDM I think. It was left into the Alfa dealer in town last week. My wife stayed at home today and phoned the dealer this morning. They agreed to send a truck to lift the car, but mentioned to her that there may be a small charge. It's in the extended warranty period, so we hope there will be no charge. I had to rush out this morning for work so didn't get the chance to try the battery and associated cables.
If its on extended warranty, just get them to sort it and also give you a courtesy car to cover your inconvenience.
The car will be brought to Mallusk, about 30mile from our home. I will just run her up to collect when ready. It's ok because her dads car is at our house and she can use that for a few days. Seriously, you take a car for granted, until the bloody thing breaks down.
I am viewing this post with great interest as I have just returned to the Alfa fold (159 S/Wagon 2.4 JTD Ti) after a 6 year excursion of a German variety. My wife's quote was: "What the fuck are you doing buying another Alfa??? Have you forgotten the hassle you had with each and every one of the 4 Alfa's you previously owned???" We'll see...
I posted fairly recently on here about our Alfa ownership. I cannot remember which section. Anyway, we have had a 1.6 147, 2.0 147, 2.4 159 and now the 2.4 Brera. My wife is just waiting on the Julia now to come in 2015. I could go on about the problems, but we like them, just something about an Alfa.
