This only took ten mins to install (remove seat, attach wire to the frame, test height, replace seat) and might save my ass one day.
Seriously, if anyone is going to do that then it'll be me. The manual says it takes 35kg of force to set it off, which apparently is plenty to tug you back to the bike without setting it off under most conditions but time will tell
Tomorrow is my third full day with my licence, my second full day of motorcycle ownership and my first bike is the Multi, so I need all the help I can get
I'd heard Ducati owners were a little obsessive about their bike's cleanliness (I should fit in well) but mine looks pretty clean no...?
Jimbo - As a new rider perhaps you need to concentrate more on riding the bike and building your confidence? So far your posts are about frame protectors and airbag vests, maybe your priorities could be wrong? Get yourself out onto some good roads, goon ride outs with some other riders and learn from them (but always ride at a pace you feel comfortable with), or you could do some advanced training, a Bikesafe course etc. Not sure whereabouts in London you are but Tony is an excellent tutor (Police rider) and exceedingly nice chap, based in Surrey. I did some refresher work with him a few years ago and he improved my skills a lot. He also organises social ride outs for all abilities Home Above all enjoy the bike and don't worry!
Jimbo, get involved in the social scene if you haven't already and find some riding buddies - you can always find a welcome in the Box Hill crowd. It will mean way more enjoyment and more miles to get your experience up. There is never any pressure to run at pace, we have fast and slow riders and pace isn't an issue, often he biggest concern for someone new. You will learn way more being involved and riding out than playing solo. I always have crash protection on my bikes and will use the wireless systems in the future for the jackets once they are more accessible.
Lol - understand but figured no-one would be that interested in a post about me booking Bikesafe, which I started looking at last night. Really good contact re Tony - I'll get in touch, thank you. Rode to work for the first time this morning - sooooo fun even on a dull 15 mile commute
Good plan re social/group riding. Any pointers how to get in touch with people. Box Hill is quite accessible from me in Fulham and I'm keen to get out there, ideally with company.
The Box Hill scene is very easy, almost every day there will be some of us about in the warmer months. In the rideouts and events section of the forum, the "anyone going to Box Hill today" thread is updated on the go with who and where we are for most weekends, evenings. I'm popping to Box tonight for example, I'd half expect to bump into a forum member there.
Where oh where are the rockers of yesteryear (not the 916 rockers - we know these are in the bin)? Ok, quite a lot of them are dead.... Still, I'm not going any further down the fluo route that some panels on my leathers. Ducati = style. Fluo vests = no style. Sorry. A personal opinion of course. But most people want to look at least a little bit cool. Yes, I did have a fluo jacket for riding my pushbike in London, though I hated it. But when being seen is pretty much the only thing keeping you alive (having no power)... well. You put up with it, I suppose.
Whilst we jest about it now, i wouldn't be surprised if these vests are mandatory equipment within 10 years.
At the moment i'm more worried about staying alive then looking good Perhaps that will change with time but i hope not!
Awesome - thank you! Mmmpphh - diary looks a bit crazy. I think the next time I'll be able to get out to Box Hill for an evening is Tuesday 5th, so i've put that time aside. Hope to see some more Multistradas there
