Ducati Day Silverstone

Discussion in 'Trackdays & Rider Skills' started by SimonT, Jul 21, 2014.

  1. Only places left are in the fast group and not too sure if I want to risk it with the panis first outing on track.

Any one know what the Ducati Day fast group is like compared to the loony normal track day fast group?

  2. Simon,
With a circuit the length of Silverstone GP I can't see it will make much difference what group you go in, unless you are really slow you should not get lapped.
I'm in the fast group and I'm hero these days.
    Just do it.

  3. Erm...fast group as first trackday or are you normally fast inters/fast group anyway?

I never give advice on stuff like this, your bike do what you like, but if you dont normally ride at least at the front of Inters I'd not bother...its not the pace its the often close passing that spooks peolpe

  4. I don't normally get passed on the inters but have never taken the pani on track yet or been in a fast group.

I have a couple of friends who want to come and one might be confident in a fast group.

My main question was is the Ducati day a bit more relaxed as you see some right a**holes on some track days who are borderline dangerous.

  5. Hi SimonT
The pace in the advanced group will probably be quick due to the fact that there will be seasoned Ducati TD riders and also quite a few racers in there too.
If your running a good pace in inters then give it a go, if not enter at your own peril.
They don`t call it a FAST group for nothing!!!

  6. If you feel ready go for it! Have said to a few friends recently, if you find yourself frustrated by catching groups of riders try the quicker group. Less large groups, but be prepared for what some may think is close passing. And all that have don't look back :)

  7. Are you allowed to turn up and watch this, wander around the paddock and maybe take advantage of a space in the novice group should one appear? I only live down the road but won't know if I can go until the day so haven't booked on, but it would be nice to have a look at all the bikes on track. Might bring a camera for some photos around the track.

  8. I'm booked in and testing Snell Motorcycle coffee for this :) Does anyone know if there is likely to be anyone there taking pictures?

  9. Read the small print you got when you paid. You grant all copyright to photographs to CSS for their exclusive use and waive any and all of your rights to the photographic content. I won't be buying anything from them unless it turns out I am a hero in real life instead of just in my dreams. Andy

  10. Haha, that's fine with me. Happy to pay so long as they have photogs good enough to make me look like a hero :)

  11. I'll be there, in novice with the words "road block" on the back of my lid! :Woot:

  12. Still tempted...

  13. They have a photographer there for the CSS days so there will almost certainly be one kicking about I would have thought.

Booked in with JHP, still wobbling round in the novice.

  18. Guess I'll see you there then. Lets see how the multi takes on a fast group, in the dry, on a power circuit. Then get it serviced straight after for Germany, it will need it ;)

Anyway I can reduce the redline?! Lol

  19. Funny enough until you went...assume you're not doing silverstone ;)
