Not sure if this is true. The question was "Why is a Submarine called a boat and not a ship?" The answer I got was "In navy parlance a ship has to have more than one deck above the waterline. ergo a sub is a boat"
Not quite true. Burning implies a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen to produce water. When in fact the Sun will start producing Carbon, Nitrogen, Oxygen and maybe Iron on its final days via nuclear fusion. It will expand to a red giant for a while as the internal pressure overcomes the weight of the mass of the elements before going nova. What will remain will be a very dense white dwarf star. This is a very simplistic explanation leaving quite a lot of detail out. But it is suffice to discredit your 'fact'. Unless of course you edit it to say the sun will become a white dwarf then everyone is happy. I cannot comment on the Lion vs Tiger 'fact' as I have never witnessed such an event in all my time living in the UK.
Surely as its from Carlsbergs point of The theory goes that when the sun goes Red Dwarf on the solar system, it will literally expand and consume Mercury, Venus and Earth, and radically changing the orbits of the remaining planets. Therefore savings = bullshit :Angelic:
In the old days a ship had 4 masts or more, a submarine doesn't have 4 masts and hence it is a boat. A very interesting bunch are submariners.
