I can't remember who wrote the book I once read nor the title but there's a concept of the 10,000 hours rule. That's how long it takes to become an expert. Table tennis was the guys game of choice
Matthew Syed-Bounce. Saw him play a few times -impressive. He now writes for the Time-good articles, very eloquent, insightful .
Allegedly 10k hours is mastery, an expert is far less and like comparing a club racer with a motp gp rider in the top 5 Covered is shite putting cat back on but got the degreaser out and cleaned all the plates and exhaust firs. Looks better but for how long...
Why oh why do I always decide to do just that little job before a trackday and it ends up taking sooooo much longer than I thought?? Decided this evening to just re position the master cylinder reservoirs and now I need to drill and tap another new part before I can finish it. Still it`ll look good when it`s done

Well Friday was a 13 hours day riding fantastic roads up from Holmfirth to Arrochar via Accrington, Devils Bridge, Carlisle and the west of Scotland. We had a late lunch at Kip marina (Inverkip) where we had a brilliant view of the marina and the gorgeous waitresses! Great days riding despite a couple of incidents to a couple of the group before we got to Devils Bridge (one bike hit another trying to stop quickly - result one knackered Diavel, one knackered Triumph Rocket and one broken hand). Weather was fantastic though Yesterday we headed to Kyle of Lochalsh. Scottish roads are just awesome! Weather was a bit cooler and just overcast till after we left Loch Ness when it threw it down! and in the hour it took to get to Kyle everyone ended up like a drowned rat. The initial idea was to get to Kyle for 2ish then head over to Skye for a run round the island. The majority of us fucked that idea off right away and headed to the bar (where we met Finm for the evening) My leathers are still damp Yesterday again wasn't without incident. One guy on a multi dropped his bike on his foot in Arrochar when we were leaving and broke his foot, and later on in the day a car pulled out on one of the group on a ST4 and he went over the bars. Last night his shoulder felt bad so he was taken to the hospital on Skye. Today is supposed to be rather damp again. So I'll wear my waterproofs. Hopefully we won't have a dramas heading back to Arrochar. Tomorrow the weather looks to be good for the run back home Last year we had no incidents at all except that one bike that wasn't a Ducati (GSXR1000) wouldn't start having got to Scotland and had to be put in the back of the van a driven home. Oh and Finm bought a couple of rounds last night!
Last night the wife and I were treated to a fantastic meal here, Hotel and Restaurant Derbyshire. Fischer's Baslow Hall House Hotel and Michelin Star Restaurant, Weddings, Private Functions and Parties Bakewell, Derbyshire, UK for our 35th wedding anniversary, I have never tasted food like it, it had a special meaning as I used to do all the maintenance there for many years. Went to Super Sausage in towcester, spotted this little gem, a BSA bantum with a home brewed air cooled square four based on an rg 500 motor!
