Taking A Pillion

  1. Second time out today, and wife seems to like it. But noticed how much more difficult it is to change direction quick (anyone who rides with me knows I love a quick steer turn) and slowing down always needs brakes, followed by a bang in the back from her lid. It got better, she actually is a great pillion bering in mind its 20 years since we last did it and I don't hang around that much.

I think I'm fairly smooth but it shows, smooth on your own really isn't smooth at all, so back to practice :)

And this bike is too tall, I nearly dropped it more than I'll admit at junctions and when filtering...and a second person on the back makes it even harder...but...the skyhook is a dream! Once out in the open, electron is to two people and it rode great

Few more miles needed before we conquer Europe

  2. Are you German?

  3. Easy mistake to make Ricky (best Bianca voice) except I'm a bit short, a bit fat and have a bit too little hair

  4. I wasn't sure but you mentioned a desire to "conquer Europe" so I had to ask.

  5. True, if I were really English it would be a desire to conquer the world ;)

  6. Found it needs a slower approach to everything in order to give pillion time to read the road..... Soon she will be able to read your actions a be prepared..... Intercom makes it so much better

  7. If she closes her knees around your hips tightly whilst braking and accelerating it stops the sliding on the seat alot (and nut crushing) and holds on to you and not the bike it helps alot with cornering and stopping the headbutts ! These may be obvious points ( and already being done) but if not, give it a try!

  8. I found and so do my pillions the "Love Handles " very helpfull(waist belt with handles)

  9. I've got real ones now days:)

  10. How does the Mrs find the position for her holding on ? Mine hates when I don't put the rear box/back rest on. Every time I open it up she near falls off.

    Maybe next time :)

  11. My wife enjoyed the multi when we went to Wales but the top box made it better for her , it's surprising how quick you forget they're on the back just need a little more advanced planning for corners , had a nice 2nd gear wheelie though that didn't go down to well

  12. Part one ride, she wasnt using her legs to brace, I mentioned it and after that it was much better. Plus when she leans back a little its much better. We use love handles anyway. Agree with the back support, but I also know its a struggle getting on and off now, add a top box and make it worse.

  13. Yep same, one of the things that stopped me being as smooth to start, as I'm about to thwap the throttle and remember she has no idea and could flip off.

Made more mistakes, riding at 60% pace, yesterday than I have done riding at 90% for years.
