hi im new to this forum and would appreciate a bit of advice with regards purchasing of the above.Ive always fancied a 916 but the price always seems to be a lot greater than the 758,i currently ride a z 1000, is there a lot of difference between the two machines? other than the obvious full service history, belts changed,etc is there a best year to go for and anything majour to look out for cheers any info greatfully received.
Having owned both I prefer the revier nature of the 748. The 916 has more torque/power, but on the road there's not much in it for me. Yoh need to ride the 748 a bit harder but that's the fun! Service history would be a bonus, but a knowledgeable owner who's looked after a bike well would be my choice. There's plenty out there and they crop up on the forum fairly often.
Plenty of different models of 748 about from the E entry level bike to the 748R. The R and also the SP\SPS are much more involving bikes but they cost a lot more in some cases, top choice for many would be the 748R 2002 model with full Ohlins suspension. You would be better trying one as they do vary a bit in how they perform, a much more revvier bike to ride, but far more of a real world bike overall as modern day traffic can make it hard to get the best out of the bike a lot of the time, or certainly it's like that in many heavily built up areas.
